IRVING -- The Cowboys haven't had much success returning punts this season. Cole Beasley, the team's primary returner, is averaging only 4.1 yards on his eight returns. To make matters worse, he muffed a punt in the final minutes Sunday, preventing the Cowboys from having a chance to tie the score in a 27-20 loss to the Giants.

"I just misjudged it," Beasley said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan's Ben and Skin show [KRLD-FM]. "It carried a lot farther than I was expecting it to, so I didn't get back far enough and didn't get to set my feet, so just a breakdown of fundamentals."

Following the game, Beasley's wife made headlines for the way she defended her husband on Twitter. She used several expletives in multiple responses that were quickly deleted, which can be found here.

"It's funny because she's always the one trying to keep me from saying stuff on there," Beasley said. "She sent me a text after the game apologizing. She knew she messed up. She told me, 'My body just got so hot.' I was like, 'Well, it happens sometimes.'

"I didn't get mad at her. I understand. It's hard. It's something we kind of need to stay away from, but it happens, so whatever."

That Mrs. Beasley is a fine, sophisticated lady. She's a keeper.

Beasley has no business returning punts. He isn't/hasn't been good at them- ever. He's a role-player on offense; one who's role is far less effective without Romo and Dez on the field. Good for his wife to defend him, but she should really put her frustrations to him because I think that's what her response to others was really masking. In other words, she too was probably like 'Beas... w t f? How could you drop that?!!' as we all were.

Did Cole really say, "1 fumble in 3 years..." or am I reading that wrong? Cause there was one in the opener against NY, one last year against Philly, and I'm pretty sure at least one or two more that I am not recalling.

Nice example for the children

I'd have zero problem explaining her outburst to my kids. ****** people get yelled at sometimes because they deserve it. She went too far, because as a spouse of a professional athlete, she's held to a different standard.

I'm more concerned about his disappearance on offense. I'm surprised how reliant he is on Dez/Romo. I thought his game would show up no matter what.

I don't hold her to a different standard. Anyone who gets on social media and acts like an idiot...well, is an idiot. Goes for everybody.
