Cowboys in Oxnard! Jon Machota's complete position-by-position breakdown

The Cowboys are in Oxnard, Calif.

Jerry Jones' State of the Cowboys address will be Wednesday and the team will begin training-camp practices Thursday.

To help Cowboys Nation get up to speed on the club's roster and keep an eye on camp's most important positional battles, we're revisiting DMN staffer Jon Machota's position-by-position breakdown for America's Team.

Fresh off a career-year, Tony Romo is entering his 10th season as the Cowboys starting quarterback. And despite multiple back surgeries over the last 26 months, the 35-year-old says he expects to play another 4-5 seasons. If he continues to play like he did in 2014, it seems possible. Romo earned his fourth Pro Bowl appearance after posting a career-high 113.2 passer rating and throwing 34 touchdowns to only nine interceptions.

Here’s the situation if the Cowboys don’t add another proven back. Joseph Randle appears to be the lead dog heading into camp. If Darren McFadden is healthy, he could also fill the starting role. Lance Dunbar will likely see more carries, but his biggest impact should come during passing downs. Ryan Williams has been released.
