They won’t have much money to work with in free agency, similar to last season when they were only able to add complementary pieces at the right price — like linebacker Justin Durant and safety Brodney Pool.

Huh? Those guys signed in two different offseasons. We signed Durant last offseason. Pool was here for a few months in 2012.

I prefer rebuilding. And , it's either the coach or romo that has to go. And then, we need to bring in a lot of young guys,,,,,,draft a few QBs, or sign some promising backups off free agency.....

Romo can't get us there with this core team. That "core" leadership is done. Garrett, romo, ware, Carr, witten, the coaches..a few others. It's nit happening. We need "drastic" changes in leadership....and frsh young hungry faces.....to rebuild an identity,.

But, i expect the same thing next year or even worse. Why? Jerry Jones.....

Of course it will be more of the same..

and that's if Romo returns and they win 8 games..

..if he misses any starts..not even 8-8.

Its maybe better that we lose some

..we need to clean house and start from scratch now.

This culture Garrett has brought to VR is dead.

IMO

What I don't understand at all about this last 3 years under Garrett..

Is that we still do not have an identity as a team under him...

..other than as choker/losers.

But I mean..I had hoped we would gain a clarity of what we are as a team.

Still haven't figured it out.

Blow this team up and start a youth movement. Bunch of overpaid, over exposed, old farts.

Will this team do what is necessary?

Like cutting ties w/ players that can't finish a season? Sean Lee......

Rid of old players......Ware, Austin, Carr????

I have my doubts

It's a blessing in disguise Dallas doesn't have much cap room... It will force them to build through the draft.

it already did not do what is necessary, so thats gone. okay so we keep garrett and again have to make it easier for him. So trim the roster, I think you can dump Carr or Clairborn, im keep Carr. Even Carr and Scandrick is better than Carr and Clair. Ware, Austin, Durant, Simms, okay, gone. Its not just old players we should be shuttling. You want to talk change, again a few coaches are going to shuffle and again as i stated, i want a true OC brought in. Plain and simple.

Also Witten no longer a starter. Dont cut, can still use him, only smarter, not harder.

If they don't do much during the offseason it will be because Jerry is too stubborn to do the right thing and dump Ware.

To me it's simple...restructure the obvious Romo, Carr etc, let Spencer, Hatch walk, cut Austin and play hard ball with Ware. If he doesn't take a substantial pay cut let him go as well.

Sign Melton (should be reasonable) and Joseph, along with a couple of bargain types in Robert Ayers and Danario Alexander or Ben Tate.

You mean injuries themselves aren't an excuse because good teams build quality depth? Say it ain't so.......

What are the Safety/DL options in FA? I feel a good safety TJ Ward would really help settle this D but understand that DL is the more important position. The only holdovers I envision is Selvie/Crawford and maybe some of the younger guys that are coaches pets, etc. Joseph (Melton franchised) would be a good start and draft a DL high to at least give the coaches something to work with. Ware needs to go...

where are all the cap experts that have been claiming we have plenty of space and can do what we want? I mean hardly a day goes by without someone here who obviously is immensely more qualified in cap experience then anyone in the media or elsewhere that have been saying again and again we are tight and have little to spend.

Has been quiet. Good call burm.

its time to cut, cut to the bone, you ve tried your best and your best is average, throw caution to the wind and generate chance, at least with chance we have nothing to hold on to and have to ride the wave.

I'd love to see us cut and purge under one condition. Simply this, if we get our cap situation fixed, if Jerry wouldn't screw it up again with in the next few months.

cut ware and let him sign with a 3-4 team who has a chance to get him a ring. he deserves one. he's a been a warrior anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. we've had the honor of watching one of the most dominant pass rushers of our generation play before our eyes but its time to move on. he's on the wrong side of 30 and in the wrong system. i want to see ware succeed again before he retires.

I expect Ware will restructure with a cut, despite his recent rejection of that idea.

Cutting Austin is a true no-brainer.

People want us to build through the draft rather than sign FAs but it's not like we're not exercising our draft picks. You can do both. The problem is our GM doesn't know how to do either well.

It's not a good call. It has been pointed out several times that cap space won't be a problem, but you guys refuse to listen. Yes, guys will be cut and some restructured, but that is just how Dallas handles the cap.

Well sure, cut everyone to get under and it's never a problem.

Of course you'll never have a competitive roster but at least the cap won't be a problem.

Lol, I'm one of them. And the reason I'm laughing is that you are taking as gospel a news articles that says this:

But the club’s salary cap woes aren’t anything new. They’ve pushed off their problems year after year as they try to cash in on their aging core before it’s too late.

and five sentences later says this:

It’s a common practice around the league and makes the salary cap more of a charade because of the way NFL executives can manipulate contracts.

So you are worked up about a sports writer saying we have "woes" coming from "problems" dealing with a charade in a way every other team does as well. When everyone who has taken the time to learn the salary cap like AdamJT, XWalker, etc has come to the same conclusion, and its the opposite of this sports writer.
