IRVING - Anthony Hitchens' role for the Dallas Cowboys is about to change after he's started the first four games at middle linebacker.

"[McClain is] one of our best defenders, so he's probably going to be back in the middle," Hitchens said. "I just got to be ready to go at all the positions and go back to my [strong-side linebacker] rules again, so I just have to go back to my books and get to studying again.

"It's a little difficult, but I've been here before. The good thing about me, it happened to me last year before and I switched a little bit here and there in camp so I should be alright."

We've all discussed ad nauseum how much we are looking forward to Sean Lee and Ro McClain on the field together, but when three linebackers are on the field, I suspect Hitchens will make a pretty big impact, as well. If the Cowboys are going to stop the Patriots (based on previous Patriot losses) the Cowboys need to get after Brady early and often. Sack or not, he needs to hit the ground...alot...within the rules, of course. And Marinelli is going to have to bring it from alot of different angles, if he is going to get someone home before Brady releases the ball.

I assume Hitch would play the WIL if/when Lee is out?

This is gonna be good if all three of these guys are on the field together.

We'll find ways to get Hitch on the field. He might be a nickle LB over Ro for a game or two to start.

Can we trust McClain? which Rolondo are we getting back? This guy is a loose cannon and his head is not always were it should be. I am not getting to excited about his return, furthermore he hasn't played in awhile, how much can he help us? Same goes with Hardy who wasn't that impressive in Pre-season.

For all of those who speak highly of hitchens you all stand corrected. For those who say jag you couldn't be any further from the truth....the guy diagnosis plays almost as good as lee and when Lee goes out he is the one setting and calling the plays. This defense just got a whole lot better with Ro back. The linebacing core is one of this teams strong points, let's just hope Lee doesn't get held out too long.

Can people let go of this loose canon head case crap. What has he done to get this crap from fans. He was signed last year and proved everyone wrong, he had some health issues, but who didn't have any issues. Yes, he was suspended from substance abuse issue, but does that make him a head case. To some yes, to others, maybe, but not a total headcase.
Let's see how he does the rest of the year.

He didn't play for almost 2 years, and looked pretty damn good when he did play from the beginning last year. As for Hardy, who in the hell on the team was impressive in a vanilla based preseaseon...oh, the guys that some rammed down our throats who aren't on the team, or are on the PS?

So yes, I trust McClain and Hardy to come out and play well.

It kills me this continuing narrative around Ro. I understand the contract caution....but Nate and his rhetoric about McClain has to show him because he wained off last year as the remainder of the defense got better is BS in my opinion.

Why is it that Hardy gets the "he hasn't played in a whole year so ease him in so he doesn't pull anything". But when it comes to Ro that's not even a possibility why he slowed down at the end of the year.

I'm always pulling for him even if I have to drink muddy water and sleep in a hollow log:star:
