I agree Carter will bounce back and be a productive player. He wasn't the only player on the team that struggled. Hatcher, Ware, Lee, Carr, Claiborne, Durant, Church all got schooled. There was some games Carter was everywhere. I feel he will improve his coverage with getting more comfortable with the defense. Dez started out having problems with the playbook, it takes some time especially when you change 3 defenses in 4 years

I hope he is right, I think Carter has the physical ability but guy needs to start living in the film room to make quicker reads and adjustments.

Hate agreeing with Jerry but I'm still hopeful with Bruce. He showed too much his Junior year to be playing like this now. Needs to find motivation.

Jerry basically saying Carter did not work hard enough in preparation, which is what I thought was going on. Let's hope Carter has changed his ways on that. Jerry seems to think he has.

What else is new from Mr.Optimistic himself..

What if he's not? What's the backup plan Jer

I agree. I hope and would love he is closer to the guy we saw the year before. Boy he looked good.

Although too often it seems like our GM relies on this hope. We have seen it way too many times with the offensive line, safety and D-line about being as good as we have been at this position, or it is a position of strength or we hope Alan Ball is the guy, etc. Usually there is nothing behind that hope if it does not come to fruition and then we go back to the old excuses we have heard so many times.

It has been said before. I think hope is much better coming from an owner. I think the GM needs to lay awake at night worrying about everything- roster spot, depth, injury plans when they arrive, etc. Just my opinion though.

I haven't completely lost faith in Carter. He still shows flashes of being a very good player. His athletic ability is off the charts for his position. He is just wildly inconsistent.

His problem is his prepatration and work ethic, as others have said. He's still on his rookie contract and he needs to prove it to everyone that he deserves a second contract. He has all the tools. It's up to him to maximize his abilities. The transition from 3-4 to 4-3 seemed to hurt him more than the others. He must change that this year.

I think he can. If he doesn't, it will be time to replace him.

The guy can't get off blocks to save his life. That's got nothing to do with scheme. Lineman loved seeing carter in their crosshairs. They just put their paws on him and drive him wherever they want him to go like a steering wheel.

If you combine Bruce Carter's athletic ability, Sean Lee's work ethic and preparation, and Jason Witten's durability, you have a Hall of Fame linebacker.

Too bad Carter's obsessed with McDonald's.

To me it's like the situation with Doug Free last offseason.

And like what Doug Free did in '13, I think Carter bounces back in '14.

Carter honestly looks like he doesnt care. The second half of the Saints game was a joke, the kind of thing that should get people cut if there were any accountability.

To single out Bruce is ridiculous. The whole defense was a joke that day.

The sad part with the Carter situation is the fact he hasn't even received a big contract yet and showed lack of determination. What do you think he'll do if given more money?????

I'm not sure if the lack of determination was due to laziness or due to unfamiliarity of the position and his confidence waned.

The facts are that Bruce Carter did not play well in '13, but played well in '12.

If he sucked both seasons I would be done with him, but at this point he gets a "mulligan".
