With Bledsoe, his receiving opportunities and numbers go down.khiladi;2607426 said:If that was the case, then why was TO suddenly excited the moment they took out Bledsoe and put in Romo? Why was TO excited as hell to get Brad Johnson out of the line-up and Tony Romo back in?
Alexander;2607042 said:Yes, it is understood he played with the foot injury. That does not excuse everything. For all we know, he stated he was fine and could play through it. Now if you are a coach and the play says he can play, are you still going to doubt him and start the inferior player? To me, the foot is just another excuse. This team and this staff has a million of them.

Ditto with Brad Johnson.
With Romo, his expectations would be rewarded instead.
While it may appear to be a team improvement type reaction from a player, it's really a personal gain type reaction.
CowboyFan74;2607448 said:Yeah that's why Elway had to wait for the old man to go before he won the big one, Terrel Davis had nothing to do with it.
All wide receivers aren't the same. Even if different players share certain traits, Terrell Owens is as unique as any other individual. What motivate Terrell Owens may be similar to that of other wide receivers, but differences are apparent. Case in point. I'm sure that there are wide receivers who would consider begging Deion Sanders to discuss with them team topics within a one-on-one, totally unnecessary televised format, but they don't. Why? Perhaps because they are not wired exactly like Terrell Owens.khiladi;2607449 said:Oh, you mean WRs want to play with QBs that maximize his potential???? So what were people complaining about TO again, when they say he can't play with superstar QBs? If a person's selfishness is better for the team, than what really is the problem...
YoMick;2607461 said:I never said either of those things. But the slaughtering that went on in those Bronco's SB's... heaven's to Betsy!

You asked why Owens reacted why he did. That's why.
Newsflash: the vast majority of athletes are selfish. That's not the issue.
Let's put it another way. The vast majority of athletes within a team sports format do not attempt to change coaching philosophy by taking their concerns (legitimate or not) to the general public. Football isn't a freaking democracy, but Terrell Owens believes he can certainly lobby public opinion to his side and thus "pressure" coaches to his way of thinking. And sure, there are some SELFISH athletes who would do the exact same thing as Owens if the opportunity were to arise, but even that minority doesn't even try.
Why, you ask?
Why, it's because they don't think exactly like Terrell Owens. That's why.
Alexander;2607033 said:Then that is a big problem, regardless if Owens is here or not. We should not have to sit him down and explain how costly he was to acquire and have any sort of meeting with him. If he is a professional, then it should be a given, he needs to do that.
Williams has the reputation for not being the most self-motivated so again that begs the question why we paid such a high price for someone who needs to be constantly prodded and poked to perform.
From what I see, he is just another follower. Owens has that type of personality, but the fact that the less than motivated gravitate towards him and feel it is okay to do just what is barely necessary, I find it hard to blame him. What scapegoating Owens does is give the illusion that these things will all go away. The reality is, they won't. The individuals have to be accountable.

YoMick;2607648 said:To the best of my collection I was living in Colorado for the last beatdown. The town was so deflated after the previous blowouts.
So they owner spent "just enough" to get them to all those SB's.... then time expired on their meter?
:laugh2:
Fixed.CowboyFan74;2607550 said:The clock is ticking on TO. Right now I can't think of anyone who wants a ring more than him. The sad part is how the media will do everything in their power to begrudge this man that opportunity because he has done plenty of ILOVEMESOMEME crap during his career.

When Terrell Owens ran out into the middle of Texas Stadium and vogued, did the media take over the network television feed and insert CGI to fool everyone, both IN the stadium and those of us at home?CowboyFan74;2607875 said:Hey if you want to dislike or hate a player because the media does go for it, it's a free country. Personally I just don't buy it anymore. When I 1st heard he was coming to Dallas I kept quiet, mainly because I didn't know the facts. Right now all we really have is circumstantial evidence, at best. Now that he's a Cowboy the media attention has been turned up 1000%, which only leads to media agenda imo.

Of course not. Everything that the media states about the man isn't all inaccurate. That's just plain dog stupid (not you, just the assumption).
My point is that the media focuses so much on the man BECAUSE of both his history AND his continued efforts to remain outspoken--even at times when it would have been better to have kept silent. However, he is Terrell Owens and cannot help himself.
CowboyFan74;2607761 said:Ahh one more thing comes to mind, the talent was very lopsided between the AFC and NFC.
Oh, don't believe for a second that I believe that the media methods are motivated purely for the search of journalistic truth. Search the archives. I've always been highly critical of news reporting, sports or mainstream, for the past 20 -25 years. Still, all news about Owens is not fiction.FuzzyLumpkins;2607884 said:Don't fool yourself. The media focuses on him because it sells.
