I use PFF, which requires a subscription. Here are the stats for the Cowboys.

T Crawford is beasting. He might make Melton expendable.

two straight games in two big plays it was shown why pressure is not what you and others claim it is. Romo was certainly hurried and pressured; but guess what? In the end that hurry and pressure accomplished NOTHING. Not something you can all that often say about a sack.

Let's just hope that Dlaw can come in young and hungry and start getting some of these sacks.

I want sacks as well but hurries and pressure do lead to ints. If you sack the QB you get the down and distance loss and big in terms of momentum. Rushing a QB making him throw off balance, not stepping into a throw or just making a mistake of not seeing a defender because your under duress are also keys to turnovers. As for Romo the guy is the king of escape artist, yes he gets pressure and is able to move out buy time and get the throw off but even with Romo many of his ints have come because he can't step into the throw, forced to throw off the back foot and sometimes just not being able to see the defender underneath the coverage. I think both sacks and Pressures mean a lot. Dallas is getting decent pressure but we need to improve in terms of getting sacks. I'm not picking one over the other I want both.

Moving the quarterback out of his comfort zone and off his delivery point is one of the most important aspects to the defensive pass game. Cornerbacks are much more effective at doing their job when the quarterback is having to find a new passing lane and a point to throw to reach the route at the right spot.

This game is built around third downs on both sides of the ball. But the organic nature of the offense and defense working in tandem on a team who moves the chains on offense and keeps the other team behind the chains on third downs is what makes the team function at a high level.

This team we are witnessing is doing those things. An edge rusher in Lawrence will be helpful, if only to move the QB away from his spot in the pocket and perhaps an errant throw.

Harassing the other teams passing game at the POA is paramount for the Cowboys success.

you look at the number of hurries/pressures vs the number of picks we get and its clear that it is not a major factor. Sacks STOP drives quite often.

It leads to throw aways basicly a wasted down and yes it does lead to ints. Again not picking one over the other, I want sacks and I want hurries. I want guys getting their hands up trying to tip balls ala JJ Watts or in Cowboy terms Too Tall Jones, those things matter. Everyone here love their argument myself I see the importance in both hurries and sacks.

True and even those hits on the QB that are not sacks adds up on how it affects the QB.

Satchel Page was a great pitcher who was held out of the Major Leagues due to racism. He was astounding in his ability to pitch in the Negro leagues - which was and still is a derogatory label - at the time, and went on to pitch in his late forties in the majors.

He has a saying that I have always admired. "Don't look back cause something might be gaining on you."

That is what this team needs to do. be gaining on the QB and pop him even when he releases the ball. Make him start to look around.

You are absolutely right, Dooms.

Good view, Two Deep. I loved the exploits of Satchel. The bias was just as strong when it came to early black quarterbacks. They just weren't given a chance on equal grounds. From Texas A&I, Karl Douglas was drafted to fill the shoes in Baltimore the season that both Johnny Unitus and Earl Morrall were gone from the Colts. He was given a trial of two whole pre-season games...
