Actor Denzel Washington chats with quarterback Tony Romo and head coach Jason Garrett before practice at training camp on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, in Oxnard, Calif. (Smiley N. Pool/The Dallas Morning News)

OXNARD, Calif. — Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington was at Cowboys practice Saturday.

The lifelong Cowboys fan made the visit with his son, John David Washington, who stars in the HBO series “Ballers.”

“First of all, I’ve been a Cowboy fan my whole life,” Washington said. “I’m talking about Duane Thomas. I’m talking about Walt Garrison, Calvin Hill, Tony Dorsett. So I’ve been a fan for a long time. Just to be out here is just fun for me.”

Before making his way onto the field, Washington spoke with some of the players in the locker room. He then talked to the team on the field before practice and sat on the sidelines for about half of the session before heading to the exit.

“I’m just happy I get to meet Tony Romo and them guys,” he said. “This is a dream for me. I got to live out my dream through my son. Days like today are just fun days for me.”

One of the best actors ever! He's definitely one of my all-time favorites. Even better, he loves the Dallas Cowboys. Good stuff.

I never realized until somewhat recently how good he really is.

Training Day, American Gangster, Man on Fire, Remember the Titans, Inside Man, The Book of Eli.... All in my DVD collection

He seems to be a humble man too from the interviews I've seen.

Remember the Titans is one of my favorite movies (and my wife's too). I watch it about once a year or so. Really great movie.
