There's no question that the deadline certainly helps move things along. My experience in the league has been regardless of what level, whether it was the players association or the individual clubs, pretty much everything comes down to the deadline. And with Dez, they had been talking to him about a contract with a previous agent. That was over a year ago. When we got on the job, certainly there was some conversation but it wasn't to the extent as it was as we got closer to the deadline.
That's an ambiguous statement lacking proper context. How much communication was occuring between Bryant, Condon and the Dallas front office? How often were phone calls, faxes, emails, texts, etc., taking place between either side? To what degree did negotiations "ramp up" in the, say, last seven days prior to the deadline?
Condon's kinda slick here making the other side appear less amicable while contracts talks were ongoing but the old saying that crap don't fly in the noon sun could certainly apply here. Maybe the other side will weigh in on Condon's comments and provide a bit more context to what was actually happening behind the scenes.
