Florida DT Dominique Easley: I didn’t meet Jerry Jones on my Cowboys visit, ‘but I got a real good vibe from them’

If not for multiple knee injuries, many experts believe Florida defensive tackle Dominique Easley would be a first round pick next week.

But a torn right anterior cruciate ligament in September and a torn left ACL in November 2011 have many thinking that he’ll come off the board in the second round.

The Dallas Cowboys could certainly use the 6-2, 288-pounder if he checks out medically. Easley said after his pro day workout last month that his right knee is about 80 percent recovered, adding that he expects to be ready to fully participate in off-season mini-camps this summer.

Easley recently visited the Cowboys, and according to him, the trip went well.

If Donald is off the board and we go Barr in rd 1, I might take a chance on him at 47

Would not pass on Donald to either trade down and pick Easley at bottom of rd 1

Absolutely. I'm also not sure we would take Donald with Melton on board and then take Easley as well although I could easily make a case for it. And I would love it. Easley can rush from the edge as well as DT so he's a versatile player.

If we take Donald we will be looking for a WDE IMO as well as all the other needs.

I still think he will go third round

I don't think so. He probably should or would in past drafts, due to his injury issues, but I think dlinemen are going to be like last years olinemen. There is going to be a run on them early and often and many teams are going to reach on a prospect that typically would be much lower. If we have a chance to get him in the second (not a given) and we really do want him then we should take him there. If his knees really are good then he is one of the best prospects in this draft. He is really really good... elite even, if healthy.

I could feel the good vibrations all throughout my body. Which slightly tore my MCL but I should be good for training camp.

Agreed. Easley is as good as Donald inside and can rush from the edge. I'd trade up for him within reason.

I would assume that takes the last of the top tier DE's out of our menu Crichton/Ealy/Murphy, we would be keeping our fingers crossed for Demarcus Lawrence/ Chris Smith and there equals to free fall to us in the third. No perfect answer just figuring out what we can live with this year.

Love to get him. The injuries are a concern but what he could bring to the team make me want to take the chance.

Agreed
Donald in rd 1 followed by attaochu in rd 2 or ward if we believe he will be our long term starting FS would be ok with me

Sean Lee and Bruce Carter in the 2nd ring a bell?

If Easley is there in the 2nd and we didn't draft a DT better bet this FO takes him at 47.

Not necessarily
Many believe that attaochu could develop into a very nice WDE and he might be there at 47
We should just not panic and reach for players

I would be ok with

Rd1: Donald or Barr or trade down if neither is there
Rd 2: Easley or attaochu or ward

I am one who believes in Attachou DE he is a different player than the Murphy/Ealy/Crichton DE in my menu. We need those guys who bring the sledgehammer every down with total effort(not so much speed). There are going to be some very good players go off the board about 28-40 and if some of our targeted players can negotiate through this gauntlet to 47 we have potential to have a very good draft(I would imagine better than last year).
