Very sad to say the absolute least. Not to be a sick ******* or anything, but Walls took years off his life donating his kidney. Is it possible that they could re-transplant (so to speak) Walls original kidney back to Walls if it is still in good condition?

Well now that is a very interesting question... I have never heard of that being done but I don't see any reason why it couldn't be. I would bet that Everson would rather it be used to help someone else though.

Very sad about Springs. :(

no, you can survive with one kidney, it shouldnt decrease his life span or quality of life, unless he already had a condition that might lead to kidney failure, in which case a doctor should have prevented him from being a donor.

I didn't want to be the first to pose that question. Can Walls have it transplanted back?

I think it's been reported that he is on life support. Sometimes that is done to allow family members time to travel to the patient to say good-bye. That may be why the doctors are say "no hope".

Diabetes is a devastating disease and so much can go wrong when you have it. Your heart can fail from one instant to the next, or he may have thrown a clot, as Derrick Smith did after he broke his neck in the automobile accident going to the SB in 2000, I think it was.

Anyway, we can all pray for Ron and especially his family...

The question is why would Walls want it back? He donated it to help his friend and can live with only one kidney. And if it could why would he want to go through the surgery again?

Yep, you are right. I wonder if they could give the kidney to someone waiting on the list. I sure hope they can. I bet Ron would want that done.

What a shame. Prayers go out to everyone in the Springs family. My heart goes out to the Walls family as well.

So sad. I remember seeing Ron Springs on TV crying like a baby at Tom Landry's funeral. Springs was the picture of health that day. Little did he know that only 7 years later, he might be facing his own demise. Life is so ironic. God bless everyone involved.

Maybe Tom Landry is building his offense.

Possible lawsuit? It looks like it.

Removing a cyst from your arm should not result in a coma. I think this situation is going to be further investigated.

It really is tragic what happened to him, but i dont think they can have a law suit.

This wasnt malpractice, people have different reactions to medicines and sometimes especially when you have someone in Rons situation, things can go bad very quickly. Its terrible what happened, but i dont think they should sue, because the doctors didnt do anything wrong, its just one of those very unlucky things that happens with medicine sometimes. My mother is a nurse and i even asked her about this, this is basically what she told me.

I hope that organs can be donated to those that need them. It's a no brainer after what Walls sacrificed here.

Nors, as I said in the other thread, he's a diabetic. He can't be a donor.

I hope with Ron still being alive that somehow he can pull through although it doesn't look good...

Cubby Walls stepped up to the plate and showed himself to be a true friend and a real man. This is a testament to the closeness of those Cowboy teams under Landry...

Cubby is a guy that long ago should have been in the ROH. I hope Jerry can step up to the plate on this one and do the right thing...

Get Everson in and a few others immediately after...

Maybe he can't donate organs to anyone else, but I wonder if they can put Walls' kidney back in after Springs passes away - as it seems certain he will do soon.

Ex-Cowboy Ron Springs has 'no hope' of surviving

Former running back is in coma in Dallas hospital

02:35 PM CDT on Wednesday, October 17, 2007

By BARRY HORN / The Dallas Morning News

bhorn@***BANNED-URL***

Doctors on Wednesday told the family of former Dallas Cowboys running back Ron Springs, hospitalized in a coma, there is no hope he will survive, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Springs, 50, has been unconscious since soon after he entered Dallas Medical City Hospital last week for what friends say he believed was a routine medical procedure to remove a cyst from one of his arms.

It remains unclear how or why Springs lapsed into a coma. The hospital has refused comment, and family members have been unavailable.

Seven months ago, Springs received a healthy kidney from former Cowboys teammate Everson Walls. That marked the first organ transplant involving former U.S. professional teammates.

The Springs family is expected to consider the possibility of donating any usable organs he might have to help others.
Man, what a downer.

Kinda puts things in perspective, the Viking game, or any game for that matter, really doesnt seem all that imporatant compared to real life problems.
