Just bumped into owner and general manager Jerry Jones at the team's hotel after the six-hour stakeout proved fruitless on Friday. He and Stephen Jones arrived early, early Saturday morning (or at least after midnight when we gave up the fight).

Jones chose not to speak Saturday and said he might be able to do something Monday. The emphasis is on might. He wouldn't even entertain just a handful of questions because he said he was heading to a meeting.

Normally Jones will make time for the local media at the NFL scouting combine. He hinted here that it wasn't a good idea that we showed up this year. OK then.

A Combine Shocker: No Comment From Jerry Jones

Apparently the gag order imposed by Jerry Jones applies to himself.

After waiting a long time to finally spot the suddenly reclusive Cowboys owner, he was spotted and tracked down in a hotel lobby at around 1 p.m. on Saturday here in Indianapolis.

After trying to squeeze in two questions, neither of which he answered, he said, "Y'all shouldn't have come up here."

When asked if he was going to talk to the media at all this weekend he said, "Maybe Monday."

He then stepped on a closing elevator and that was it.

My guess is he's not talking at all.

Clearly he's not happy with the negative publicity and the routine beatings he's taking these days, so he's taken to the no-comment policy.

Have zero idea how long it will last.

Bash him all you want. I say good for Jerry.

IMO his team will interpret all of this in a positive way. How the fans and media interpret it is of little consequence to me.

I hope you're right Hos.

I just hope this same gag-order and 'us vs. the world' mentality goes for the players as well.

A bunker strategy might be just what this team needs.

Good for you, Jerry. Show those media turds who's boss. I mean, how dare they ask a veteran media ***** such as yourself a question? Who do they think they are??

Does any other team have massive reporting on just the owner?
No other teams' owner puts himself out to the media the way Jones does.

Most teams let their head coach or someone from the FO speak for the team.

True, which makes his behavior all the more curious/ridiculous.

It is funny how much the media has gotten under the skin of the Cowboys.

I guess flopping around in December for three straight seasons will put you on the defensive.

But we all know this won't last with Jerry.

. Of all the hits JJ has had with us here and the media , good job.

Funny, some here have always said that The Boys talk too much from the Owner ,HC, on down, but when they finally decide to tone it down ,he gets flack.

Not from me, I like seeing something different from the team atta boy JJ.

And another thing , I think his silence and the teams silence is deafening.

Jones takes full advantage of media coverage for his team. I just don't think he sees any advantage in it right now.

I love seeing him taking away the media frenzy's ability to feed. Maybe the Dallas media will actually have to learn how to report on what they see instead of spinning (analyzing) what they hear.

I'd say its funny how much the Cowboys have gotten under the media's skin.

How many articles are we gonna get referring to their not talking???

Bottom line is the media has nothing the Cowboys need. The media needs Jerry more than he needs them.

I love it!!! I hope it lasts. Leadership starts from the top down and if Jerry "The Media Wh*re" Jones can put a muzzle on, the coaches have a muzzle on then maybe, just maybe this "talented" group of boneheads on the team will get the message.

Take Ed Werder, JFE, Mac Engel, Galloway, Babe, and Mosley off speed dial Romo, Witten and TNew. Take Stephen A. Smith, Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders off speed dial T.O. (speaking to them as Hall of Famers who won SB's is cool. Speaking to them about the inside of the lockerroom is not) Take JJT off speed dial Greg Ellis. The same applies to non-superstars such as Crayton, Carpenter or Bradie James.

Just play football and keep the code of the lockerroom. Outsiders need not be privy even if you hate each other.

This will not solve all of the problems in Dallas but it will help because the media will have nothing to help fuel issues that already exist.

I think they are beginning to realize that some lines were crossed.

It's a smart move by Jerry. He's not the greatest wordsmith ever and sometimes says things that aren't really understood because they are cryptic and sort of that backwoods, Arkansas speak.

From a business standpoint, it's a good move. No one is going to jump off this ship because the owner has chosen not to get repeatedly hammered. I'm guessing when he does decide to answer questions, he'll answer the non-speculative ones such as re-signing Ware or Canty or a FA move. I don't think we'll hear anything else about internal chemistry-type questions/answers.
