My Dad got me interested in football in 1968...the 2nd year of the Saints franchise. I tried to like the hometown boys, I really did!

The first time I ever heard of or saw the Dallas Cowboys was when they came to New Orleans in November of that season to play a game against the Saints (according to the Cowboy website, it was 11/3/68)

There was something about them...I'm not sure what it was that attracted me on that day. Maybe the star on the helmet, maybe the color combination of their uniforms (my favorite color has always been blue!) I don't know, but I was hooked from that day forward!

The Cowboys won that day in New Orleans 17-3. :)

Oh, and I am still pissed off that we were cheated out of a 50th anniversary season.

Fifty years, and I've been with them every step of the way...

In the words of the Grateful Dead, what a long, strange trip it's been... I wouldn't have missed a minute of it...

My earliest recollection is listening to a Cowboy game on my portable radio back in the mid-60s.

I was probably in the 4th or 5th grade. I don't remember who they were playing or the outcome, I just recall that I loved listening to Frank Glieber's call of the game. I thought they could never replace him, but of course, Verne Lundquist stepped up and was possibly even better than Glieber.

Brad Sham was Verne's color commentary side-kick for a few years before replacing him, and now I think Brad's the best ever. Lord help me -- will they ever find anyone better than Brad?

I shudder at the thought of his inevitable retirement . . .

My earliest memory of the Dallas Cowboys was Super Bowl V against the Colts.
I cried like a baby at the end of that game.

I started watching the Cowboys in 78'. Went to a few training camps in T.O. Been watching and cheering and sticking/fighting for them ever since. Just like Hos stated. It was something about that Star. That's what did it for me. Besides having THE COOLEST uniforms in the NFL.

HAPPY 50TH COWBOYS..
