“I think just the will that guy has — it’s at the top of the list of the players I’ve seen. Like I said, we know what people are going to say. But I think for us and for him it’s just go out there and get better and kind of perfect that craft so when you get to the chance, you take advantage of those opportunities. He looks good.”

Red flag. Who are you trying to convince Jason?

Good Grief! Is it so remarkable he's throwing as before that we have a conspiracy red flags and all? Get a grip guys. I would have been flabbergasted from a medical standpoint if he was still unable to throw the ball well this far into his recovery.

Jason Witten is his best friend right? So he's never going to say anything bad about Tony.

I'm sure though if there was a problem someone else would say so with all the people probably watching him.

Throwing in a VOTC to recievers who aren't even covered is a different proposition than doing it in a game. Witten isn't exactly an objective outsider who's unlikely to favor Tony's progress. Still, I'd rather hear he's OK than the opposite. It's still an unknown exactly what the future holds with his back being in question, though. If there's one thing we can count on, I think we can be sure Romo will do everything in his power to rehabilitate himself and return to the field 100% healthy.

The uncertainty is going to be there until he takes his first big hit. Then everyone will begin to breathe a little bit. I liken it to Peyton Manning's neck after two surgeries.

There are a lot of people that seem to think the surgery is a lot more severe than it actually is. Could there potentially be issues, yeah, but he could just as easily be even better this season depending on how long his back was giving him issues.

Peyton's had 4 surgeries on his neck. Pretty serious stuff.

I agree about Tony getting hit.

For some, it just would not matter what Romo did. Their mind is made up and if they can shape anything into a negative slant, they will do so.

In any case, and this is not debatable, at this time last year he was not doing what he is already doing this year.

I agree, Romo being able to move around and throw the ball as before is not an issue in my mind with proper rehab I expect him to do those things. The concern is holding up as he takes hits over the course of the season.

Its rather easily seen when a QB does not have the zip he once had. Don't need covered receivers or anything like that. Anyone with two eyes and familiar with his past ability can tell. We are not talking rocket science here.

Nobody suggested it was rocket science. What I tried to impart is that it remains to be seen if his back will hold up or if Witten is simply giving him a better opinion than will prove to be the case. His best friend isn't likely to say he's lost a little something, is he? Romo's condition won't be completely obvious until he's gone through a complete season without a repeat of his back problems. Throwing under relaxed conditions and throwing in games are two different things. You're right, it isn't rocket science -- it's more like common sense.

My wife had a very similar L5-S1 microdiscectomy almost exactly a month after Tony's. I asked the surgeon during a long stint in the recovery room about relative recovery times for different ages / levels of fitness (citing Tony), and he said that there was a pretty fast and hard rule regarding avoiding torque / compression / elongation for 2-3 months, regardless of fitness level. So it's understandable that he might not have been doing too much in the way of throwing until sometime last month. My wife's in great shape and felt energetic after a only few weeks, post op. She was walking for miles and miles in late Feb (which unfortunately generated unhealthy levels of planning and to doing) but just started her regular yoga, pilates, swimming, routines last week - the 3 month mark.

Romo has been participating in the team's voluntary workouts and is expected to be fully healthy by the start of training camp in July. Witten, one of Romo's closest friends, believes that all the questioning about the quarterback's future might be fueling him this season.

"This year is different than last year," Witten said. "You didn't see him do much last year. I don't know if it's because (the surgery) happened later or what. But he's been running and working out with us and doing the normal stuff. I think he is excited and I know he is embracing this challenge of people watching and thinking, 'Is he going to be able to come back from this?'"

Sounds like it was more about recovery from the surgery than worrying about questions regarding his future. Tony just had to wait and catch up. You can see how much more fit he looks vs. a month ago in the recent dip-gate pictures. It's an amazing surgery, I just really hope that he can avoid too many direct shots to his spine or elsewhere.
