IRVING -- What do Tony Romo, Johnny Manziel and Tom Brady all have in common? Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talked about all three quarterbacks Wednesday evening.

Following an NFL owners meeting at the Four Seasons resort at Las Colinas, Jones talked about Romo possibly having another 4-5 years left as the Cowboys quarterback.

Jones used Brady as an example. The four-time Super Bowl champ turned 38 in August. Romo turned 35 in April.

So the article says he said 4-5 years, but he is quoted saying 3.?? I don't think that's unreasonable

I usually support Jerry, but this statement is clown-ish ......... We need to stop the ********, get a high draft pick and go all in on aa top QB, and get another stud at WR.....

Then go all in on defense

If Tom Brady can be 6'4", then why can't Tony?

Exactly. And Brady had one significant injury that put him out....back in 2008.

The clavicle worries me the most. IIRC, when Charles Rogers (former Lions bust) broke his clavicle, there was an article that said that once the clavicle is broken....it's like the easiest bone to re-break.

I also don't believe that Brady takes Wednesdays off either.

Again, not a slight pointed at Romo...I just think using 1 QB as an example is a very small sample size to judge what another QB can do.

Everybody wants to point towards an example of something that they want to do that's working for someone else.

What do people that want to defend our offense when they get pass happy? Point to the Patriots.

What do people who want to de-emphasize the importance of the running game and the position do? Point to the Patriots.

Heck, when they wanted to defend wasting yet another second round pick on a TE, what did they do? Point to the Patriots.

The fact is that unless you've got Belechick as your head coach, and Brady as your quarterback, pointing out how the Patriots do things means nothing.

I think Romo will start 2016 and 2017, and i think in 2018 he's cut. Dallas owes him 8.9 mil at that point, but saves 16.3. Most likely gets designated a june cut letting him test from the time FA opens if he wants to. And Dallas gets 4.95 mil after june1 for their draft class.

JMO I think Romo has 2 years MAX before the bottom falls out for him physically, and even those 2 years will include missed games. Just basing it on the nature of the injuries he's suffered in recent seasons. The back is what concerns me most.

I wouldn't read too much into what Jerry is saying at the moment. His actions over the next 1-1.5 years will tell the story. Consider the structure of Romo's contract, so it would be embarrassing for Jerry to willingly admit they're ready to bail on it in the near future.

I think that as a GM, there's no benefit to you telling the media that your #1 QB could retire in the next couple of years, so I don't really care what Jerry says. What's important is what he does, and I think he knows damn well it's time to start thinking of what's next at the position.

Tony has already not lasted another 4-5 years despite the fact that he is still curiously on the active roster.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Nothing curious about it. It is just delusion and stubbornness. Almost like they would have to admit it is over if he went on IR. So, they would rather keep their faint hopes for his return for a championship game. It is laughable and sad at the same time.

Which teams should be looking at Johnny Manziel as a reclamation project?

Michael Irvin: I would take a flyer on Johnny. Jerry (Jones) should take a flyer on him. We're looking for a backup for Tony Romo. You bring him in, see what happens with it and let it roll. I would love to work with Johnny. I think he's quite a talent and he's headed in the right direction.
