With Romo hopefully coming back, we won't have to worry about Dak wearing down as much, so perhaps this is an option.

I have no doubt that Romo will come back. I do doubt that he'll be much of a factor when he does. He cannot stay on the field and this year is no exception.....

As a boys fan for 40+ years I have had many favorites come and go as all of us have. I'm as big a Romo fan as their is. I may be an even big fan of him as a person than the player. He seems to be first class all the time and all we could hope for as the face of the franchise.

That said...if Dak is setting the world on fire I see no way you make the switch. I'm a fan of romo but of the Cowboys first and I just wanna win baby!

lmao, So Jerry.doesnt want.to sound too optistic!!!

He expects to have Tony Romo another 5 seasons.....but let's not sound too optimistic.

Lets remember this is the guy who expressed deep disappointment when Bill Parcells decided to start Tony Romo over Drew Bledsoe, noting that he now had to lower his expectations for the season.

Its Jerry...... after another bottle of Johnny Walker Blue he'll tell you a totally different story. He may think he has a 40-year old brain, but that liver of his is in worse shape than one you could find in a cadaver.

I'm more concerned with tempering the optimistic expectations of Romo coming back more so than Dak. Romo played very pedestrian last year vs. NYG, Philly, Mia, and Car. Romo needed a major Coughlin/Eli/ NYG RB brainfart and a last second comeback to beat a poor Giants team in the opener. If I recall correctly, someone pointed out that Romo took a shot on one drive early in the NGY opener last year where he seemed to have hurt his back. Against the Eagles Romo could only put up 2 FGs against a horrible Eagle defense. And didn't he injure himself after he bobbled and fumbled the ball and an Eagle jumped on him as Romo was trying to recover the ball? Against Miami Romo threw two poor picks, both bad execution and bad decision-making. Against Car he was nothing.

Even before injury last year, Romo showed not much against the NYG and Eagles and he had the best OL to work with. At this stage Romo may be a shell of his former self. It should be an open competition and if Dak brings more to the table, Dak should play. The team does not owe Romo a spot when he comes back in my opinion. Team first. Best player starts.

Oh no, there you go throwing a monkey wrench on this Romo return..... (being sarcastic here)

As I have said before, hope the defenses get the memo that Romo should not be touched since he already has had his injury for this year.
