If you watched the last two episodes of Hard Knocks, then you had to notice Wade Phillips getting misty after cutting some players. Do you like that?

It definitely humanizes him in a business that I like to term, "a dirty game".

That's because teams cut you - no matter your previous worth to the organization - the minute they can find someone a tad better. They also demand you take a pay cut the second your performance dips in most cases.

Then there are guys like Evan Oglesby, who celebrate making the team for a couple of days only to find out he's been released to make room for another on Tuesday before the opener.

How bad is that?

Maybe, Wade has spent so much time in the NFL - 31 seasons - not to mention the time he spent around the game with his dad that it really bothers him, when he has to dash a young man's dream.

Contrast that with Bill Parcells, who didn't even meet with some of the players he released, and it gives you another portrait of the head coach.

The question is whether you like the picture?

I'd rather him have a full spectrum of emotions....you know...like getting super pissed, on top of caring for the players.

...but of all of the things to worry about on this team, a sensitive coach is number 3,454,545,649.

Does it matter what I like? Strange question, but what do I expect from Frenchy.

I certainly like the humanity of Wade better than Bill's pissy attitude, but which is most effective?

The question is whether it gets in the way of Wade doing his job. I don't think so, but the jury is still out.

I agree--that's pretty far down the list.

Just for clarification purposes....

Wade Phillips' allergies acted up on Hard Knocks

Some creative editing made it appear that Wade Phillips shed a tear or two after final cuts, when he shared a warm embrace with reality TV star/training camp filler Todd Lowber. That wasn't the case, he says.

Wade wanted it noted that his allergies acted up (not that he doesn't care about the guys who were cut).

"I wasn't crying," he said. "I was sniffling, but I wasn't crying. ... There's no crying in football."

All in all, Phillips was fine with the whole Hard Knocks experience. Jerry Jones has said that he'd "welcome" doing a Hard Knocks show for an entire season.

Hey, Wade, do you think that would work?

"No," Cowboys PR chief Rich Dalrymple butted in.

"Depends on what Jerry says, I guess," Wade said with dry eyes.

Im not so sure it wasnt his allergies like originally reported but even if it wasnt I dont have a problem with him caring about the people that work their butts off for him and the team.

But can you handle a coach with allergies? If he can't beat the sniffles how can he win a SB?

Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson were the best coaches when it came to dealing with players and the emotions of the game. Different styles, but they worked in their own unique ways.

I don't care, as long as he produces wins on the football field.

We had the old school ball coach in Bill Parcells and that didn't seem to culminate into Playoff wins either.

Wade is an old queen.

Lets give the captain seat to Garrett already.

Did anyone notice Garrett in the offensive meeting telling the players that no excuses will be tolerated this year like last year?

Some balance in the approach is respected and adhered too by people, in my opinion. Wade needs to find some balance and quit telling the players its his fault.

I like the fact he's caring. Makes him more of a human being and to be honest more of a man. I wish he'd be a little more upset with players not performing but when the coach is like that then the leaders of the team have to step in for him.

Emotions are a part of the game. Most of the time you see the Fox cameras in the victors face and you cant escape it, but make no mistake, that disapointmen and heartbreak are every bit as crucial to the game as the indescribible joy.

I really like Wade and how he adresses and treats his players, and I think its the way of the future. Parcells method of treating them all like children is done and passed.
