Why do we have to get yards in chunks of 30-40 every other play?

I for one happen to like the direction this offense is taking.
At some point, you have to get some big plays.

If Dallas has to go on 10 and 15 play drives all season without a consistent big play threat, too many of those drives will end in punts and FGs because somebody missed an assignment, jumped offsides, ran the wrong route, or dropped a pass on 3rd and 5. One only need look at the last 2 games where the Cowboys offense moved the ball at will and basically dominated their opponents the entire first half, everywhere except the scoreboard.

Not saying that they have to go all out with the vertical game they way they have the last few years, but they have to do something other than short passes and the running game. I'm not concerned about it yet, because I don't expect Garrett to put everything on the table now. But if a month into the season, what we're seeing mirrors what we've seen in preseason thusfar, then yes, the offense will have trouble getting more than 20 or so points per game.

Personally, I think Felix Jones and Miles Austin will provide more than enough big plays.

I hope you like your day job because you could never be a sport's journalist. First you lack the ability for hyperbole. Second, you don't have a penchant for twisting truths into negative agenda driven articles. Third, you use far too much common sense. However, if you are willing to work on your shortcomings DMN will be awaiting your application.

Oh well I'll stick to my real job. :laugh2:

As I said in another post pre-season is a time to work on fundemental things which is why you see so much vanilla by so many teams. End results of the game are meaningless and soon forgotten. What you hope is your team gets in some good quality work see where you are coming up short and try to work on those things.

Getting through all of this without any major injury is normally consider a pretty successful training camp and pre-season.

Too bad we live in a world where everything is hyperbole and it seems to sell except for those of us who have watched the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys for over 40 some odd years and have seen the pre-season and understand what it is for.

I am still waiting for him to be this slow liability that everyone said he would be.

Don't worry. He won't disappoint, when the bullets start flying...
