Tony Romo is throwing the ball more to Miles Austin than he did T.O.

We often criticized T.O. for whining about not getting the ball enough. And we criticized Tony Romo for throwing the ball to T.O. too much, and Jason Garrett for calling plays that seemingly forced the ball to T.O.

Guess what?

The Cowboys have been throwing the ball more to Miles Austin than they threw it to T.O. last year since the Denver game in Week 4.

But no one complained about the number of times Austin gets targeted each game.

Interesting.

In the last 11 games, Romo is throwing Austin 9.2 passes per game. You can't really count the first three games since Austin received limited playing time in those games. Four times, Romo has targeted him 10 times or more in a game.

In 2008, T.O. received 8.8 targets per game. Four times, he had at least 10 passes directed toward him.

Austin is producing more than T.O. did last year.

Austin has 1,138 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. Austin has five 100-yard games. Only Andre Johnson and Vincent Jackson - each has six - have more.

No one complains, though, because Austin is forever crediting for any success he has to his teammates and coaching staff. And when he doesn't get the ball, he doesn't pitch a fit or complain about the lack of opportunities.

What a novel concept.

Too bad T.O. never figured that out.

I wonder if RW is going to complain about Romo's new BFF to Ed Werder.

Romo made Owens look much better than he really was.

Romo's stats were often deflated by how many balls he dropped.

Remember that game in Washington when he dropped a 70 yard walk in TD that hit him in the hands, in stride? We ended up losing that game on the blocked FG 14-13.

Romo is the ****, anyone that is still openly doubting his talent and dedication to becoming a better QB is like Allen says in the Hangover, a ratard.

:hammer: Romo started not trusting that T.O. would catch it when he threw it to him.

Is this really the best JJT can come up with at this point in the season?

He also throws to Austin more because teams aren't gearing their game plans toward stopping Austin.

The idea is that you throw to the open receiver. Last year, Owens wasn't able to get open consistently because of the way teams were doubling him. Yet, he still demanded that Dallas get him the ball. That was the problem.

There have been times that Austin has been doubled and Romo hasn't been able to get him the ball. The difference is that Austin doesn't complain about it.

In fairness, JJT did say that Miles is producing more than TO did last year... not sure how y'all missed that.

That's what happens when you get open more often and catch the ball more often when it's thrown to you. QBs tend to start trusting you more and more and going to you more and more.

well at least he didn't mention no playoff wins since 1996 and that Wade is 0-4 in the post season, that is a plus

Yeah thats the difference. Before t.o. wasnt always open and romo felt he had to force it in there PLUS t.o. was campaigning for more throws. Romo throws it more to austin because hes open more and at least to my knowlege hes never said anything about wanting the ball more.

Well I don't think it's simply the attitude. Owens is always near the top of the league in drops, and he would give you the impression that Tony was pressured to get him the ball in some really bad situations (double and triple coverage). You just don't get that impression with Miles. Also, Miles doesn't seem to need as much time to get open as Owens did.

At this point in both players careers he is just better than TO.

He is also better in a timing based Offense too. Its probably because its the only offense he has ever known as a Pro.

Austin is one of the more unique players in the league. Hes not your everyday Pro Bowl receiver. He is a dynamic player.
