Kristi Scales, the sideline reporter for the Dallas Cowboys radio network, answered questions about the team in a chat Tuesday. Here are some highlights.

Question: From your vantage point, should pass interference have been called on that final pass to Dez which was intercepted?

Kristi Scales: Yes, from my perspective on the sideline...and Dez ran right past me as he was going downfield...there should have been a pass interference call. Not only did the defender, Bradley McDougald, knock Dez off-stride...he also created separation from Dez which allowed McDougald to make a clean play on the ball. I will also note that the official who would have made the call, the back judge, may have been screened-off and not able to see the clear shove in the back. Dez's body was between the back judge and McDougle, so the official may not have seen McDougald's arms extended into Dez's back. It was a good play by the defender because he got away with it, and made a great play on the ball to haul it in for the INT. And, hey, when you're on a 7 game losing streak, it can sometimes fell like none of the calls will go your team's way!

Question: When Dan Campbell was a player did you ever envision him coaching?

Kristi Scales: Yes, it was obvious that Dan Campbell was a total "football guy" who would be a great coach. He was a respected veteran and the go-to guy for media as well as young players. As a reporter, you could go to Dan on-the-record or off-the-record for his take on the team or specific X's and O's. I think he really meant a lot to a young Jason Witten who was a rookie in 2003 when Dan signed with the Cowboys as a free agent. If you didn't see this earlier on SportsDay.com, I posted a story with Witten talking about Campbell. This is in response to Campbell being named Dolphins head coach. Witten said, "He's a guy who was always studying football. He wasn't the most talented, so he definitely maximized his ability. I think the reason why he had the success he did was because of the way he prepared and the way he studied. He anticipated things, a lot of things that coaches do for you. He was naturally able to do that. But I think more than anything is his leadership ability. He was able to find a way to get men to follow him and listen to what he said. I think that will be one of his greatest traits as a coach is to get guys to play hard. They'll like having him lead the way, and that's what you want your coach to do. You want a coach to lead the way and really show you what will allow you to have success."

Doesn't matter. It's still dez's fault for not making a play on the ball.

Agreed..............even if you are interfered with, you don't leave it up to the ref to make the call...........you go up and get the ball or at least make sure it is not picked.

Dez actually looks at the ref and starts arguing while the ball is still in play..........I have no idea why he would do that............when I played WR in high school, our coach would always tell us to go after the ball, even if you are being freaking tackled by the DB...........you never just stand there and let the ball get picked because you think you were interfered with.

dez would have had to have been pushed 3 feet...the ball literally fell behind him. no way.

Thought this was common knowledge.

Endzone view, stabilized to spot on field:

The pushoff net the defender a yard of distance and a trajectory difference. Just follow Dez's feet, he's turning up field and gets sent sideways.

He would have had a better chance if he didn't fight for the ball at all like people claim he already did and just gave up on the play and dove with the push.

I think what most people are referring to is Dez didn't try to jump for the ball.........the previous week he jumped 8 feet in the air and caught the ball over 200 guys and here he is one on one and all he does is just puts one hand up.

Spags said on Talkin Cowboys that Dez told him after the game that not going up for the ball was him not being himself and that he doesn't play like that. So even Dez thinks he should have given a little more effort on the play.

We will probably get an apology letter from the league saying "oops, we missed that one".

No problem, not like we needed the win or anything.

Don't count on it. If that would have been any other team that article would have been posted 30 seconds after it happened on PFT. Complete BS. I just wish he tried to jump. It would have sold it.

Agreed, I'd include jumping as diving away from the play, aka giving up on it and selling the PI. He'd be flailing all over and end up further away from the ball.

I commented after the game that Dez should have made a play on the ball. Seeing the play at this angle for the first time, I'm not sure how much of a play he could have made on it. He would have had to jump before the push to make a play on it, and obviously you can't predict a guy is going to push you in the back.

Honestly don't know how a db gets away with that. The defensive player pushes him in the back with ball in the air and actually extends his arms in plain sight. I do not understand the rules of today's nfl
