IRVING — A little over a week ago, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Sean Lee “looks fantastic. As you might expect, he’s ready to go.”
Lee is working his way back from tearing the ACL in his left knee almost a year ago during organized team activities.
“Sean has been doing a really good job,” Cowboys linebackers coach Matt Eberflus said during last weekend’s rookie minicamp. “He’s trying to get back to where he was and beyond that. I
It’s a day to day process for him.”

So Sean Lee is going to be put in a place where he can have more freedom to make plays???In Dallas’ defensive scheme, the weakside linebacker travels with the three-technique defensive tackle. With Lee playing that position, it will give him a better chance to see the ball, added protection from blockers and more freedom to make plays.
I think it will help Lee stay healthy if Dallas uses some of its depth to balance his playing time. Don't overwork a player who has had trouble staying on the field. Although Hitchens will probably get a shot at starting on the strong side, his greater value to this team might be rotating with Lee when Dallas can afford to take Lee off the field.
In fact, I think we're trying to do with the LB corps what we did last year with the line, create a wave of players. Brinkley spells McClain, Hitchens spells Lee, Gachkar/Wilson spells Hitchens.
Lee and McClain are too important to come off in critical games and situations
They will need to play
You can wave the third LB all you want
