Here's hoping his heart is in it, despite his mentioning that he's been considering retiring for about five years now. Yikes! Those are thoughts that don't exactly inspire goose bumps. It sounds to me like he might possibly be a candidate for a backup spot but we'll soon see.

As WG said..."Well"

And as JohnsKey19 intimated...Once you start talking about retirement you are already retired.

Not to mention he would not be a good fit (as a starter) at the Mike. Let him compete with the no-name guy I can't remember at the Sam and leave Hitch in the middle.

Edit: Wilber....

Or even better, get us to a healthy Jaylon Smith.

I'm of the opinion, we need to think long term. I want Jaylon Smith to be completely healthy. It was a freak accident, but why rush back. Is not a 10 year career more important than just one season?

Durant said his 4-year-old daughter made him really think hard about retiring.

"I always miss my daughter's birthday parties. She's 4. She'll be 5 this year," Durant said. "I asked her if she wanted me to stop playing and she said, 'Yeah,' so it kind of made me a little weak inside."
I'm not too sure you'll receive dispassionate professional advice from a five-year old. She just wants her daddy. That's it. Who can blame her?

Jerry can sure talk them off the couch.
He is good at that. Jerry is a good salesman and recruiter. That's one aspect of his GMing that I do like, he's got that knack of salesmanship and charisma about him.

More like: Am I ready to tear up my body again for one more year?

This is my read right here. I'm looking at a linebacker that wants to get with a team that he can believe in, and be a seasoned linebacker. He has running skills enough, to be a factor in packages. I like his transitional value. Then who knows, he might carve out a two-three year niche in a transitional unit. I like him in the middle. That just might solidify the strong side, with reps going there as well, for other players.
