ARIZONA CB ANTOINE CASON

Love this kid. And I think he could be the best corner in this draft, when all is said and done. Why? Because of one of the most overlooked qualities a corner can have: instincts. This kid knows the game, times his breaks well, plays aware of everything around him, and has position flexibility. He was the best defensive back in college last year -- witness the Thorpe Award on his trophy case -- and is a steal here.

Charles Woodson and Al Harris are a solid pair of starters, but DC Bob Sanders' man-heavy scheme can be exposed when other teams spread Green Bay out and force more DBs on the field. Cason will immediately help them shore that deficiency up, because he's ready to step in right away. The knock on him is that he lacks the long and recovery speed to play in a man defense, but I think he's faster than a lot of people give him credit for, and makes up for a lack of truly elite wheels with a great head for the game. If the Cowboys take Talib over Cason, they will rue the day they did.
Todd Archer's on the clock with the World Champion Giants.

I tend to agree with Albert on this one.

Posted by ESPN.com director of morale Matt Mosley

Earlier this afternoon, my former colleagues held a live mock draft on the blog formerly known as Matt Mosley's Cowboys Blog. Some of you have (wrongfully) accused me of bringing my Cowboys blog to ESPN.com, but that's completely unfair since I occasionally mention other teams such as the Patriots and Giants.

Today's mock draft lost all credibility when Albert Breer selected Ohio State linebacker Vernon Gholston with the first pick. A quick check of Breer's online resume revealed that he's also a Buckeye. Dallas Morning News draft guru Rick "Goose" Gosselin threw his famous draft binder down the hall when he heard that Darren McFadden had fallen to the Bengals at No. 9. Todd Archer got great value for the pick, but it never should've happened.

He has the Ravens taking Troy cornerback Leodis McKelvin. I'll be back later this afternoon to tell you why that will never happen.

Oh, and I heard Mel Kiper Jr. say over the weekend that he considers it a success if he has seven or eight direct hits on his final mock draft. I'll be trying to break my personal record of 27 direct hits this weekend in New York.
