Machota: If he stays out of trouble, Randle starts at RB ... and will be better than Murray in one way

SportsDay's Jon Machota answered questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.
Question: I keep hearing more Cowboy related comments from Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett and it seems fewer from Jerry. Is Jerry pulling back as the face of the franchise just a little bit?
Jon Machota: I've thought that for a while now. Stephen Jones is clearly getting more responsibility by the year. Jerry Jones is still calling shots, but I believe Stephen is handling more day-to-day business than ever before. And I think Jason Garrett and Will McClay have more power than some may believe. Jerry Jones has a lot of trust in all three.
Question: What are Joseph Randle's biggest strengths in trying to win the starting RB position?
Jon Machota: Quickness, athleticism and versatility. Randle has very good hands. He had 80 receptions over his last two years at Oklahoma State. As long as he's available, meaning he's staying out of trouble, I believe the starting job is his. As a player, I think he's ready for the opportunity. I don't think he'll be as successful as Murray was in short -yardage situations but he'll hit more home runs.
Question: What do you think of the new line coach? Have they drilled any differently or have you noticed a difference in approach?
Jon Machota: No big changes with the offensive line. Bill Callahan coached Frank Pollack when he played at Northern Arizona, so their styles are similar. There's also a lot of coaching going on between younger players and veterans. Callahan set the foundation and Pollack, who was in charge of the room when Callahan was calling plays a couple of years ago, is now trying to add to the impressive product. I have yet to see or hear of any major differences being made with the offensive linemen.
