Why are so many interested in the team's image?

This won't lose any "real" fans or preclude anyone from becoming or making someone dislike the team more.

I understand Jerry may want to protect the insignia but why are so many up in arms that he should do it?

It has nothing to do with football wins, does it?

I said something earlier today about a player story coming out that I was not happy about.

This is it. We did not need this.

I guess Rap is the Devil....hmm.

I dont see anything wrong with this..at all. Wished they didnt put out the edited version on his MS page.

common language in hip hop.

Sure thing.

A. He is not a recording artist.
B. He nor any other member the team has the right to do anything using the team logo or gear without consent.
C. He used racial slurs and words associated with hate crimes.

If a couple of white players decided to get some crystal and make a rap video and use the same language as dopey bennet did, you and the rest of your apologist buddies would be having a fit.

So you think some here have a Racial Agenda?

Why is Crystal being brought into the discussion? Was Martellus Bennett explicitly doing illegal drugs while rapping?

I believe it can have harmful effects on a team.

However, inconsistency on the part of the Organization can have harmful effects as well.

Like quickly coming to the defense of Pacman Jones while on the other hand fining Martellus Bennett for making a rap song.

The fact is, all of America, flaunts their 'profession' to get what they want. It is hypocrisy to argue a Cowboys player cannot do it, while the rest of America can. It is even more hypocritical, when that player is castigated because he is rapping and using words that are common language in hip-hop nowadays.

I agree about 'wearing the uniform' bit that most people express, but the hypocrisy about him rapping is absurd...

"Cut the malarkey..."

I don't know who's got the problem with rapping but your apples to oranges examples about flaunting profession is off-base.

But I think the team would be embarrassed by a profanity-laced tirade from any of their players, especially if that player was foolish enough to broadcast it.

It's simply not what a professional does.

And it's a lesson that a young player feeling his way around the NFL just learned the hard way.

The weak "it's the team's decision" argument is stale and only used by those with nothing to say.

It's not an argument at all - it's a fact. But it's obviously one you choose not to hear. Any company controls its' image, not just sports teams. And any employee foolish enough to damage that company's image is subject to the penalty - including termination.

Virtually everything discussed on this Message Board is ultimately in the hands of the Dallas Cowboys Organization. Why even have a Cowboyszone if we are not going to discuss things that are not in our hand, like the Draft, Free Agency, Discipline etc etc.

We can discuss anything we want here, but it doesn't change how the real world works.

Unreal. 4 more times since I said it last people still think it is about Rap music. Talk about over sensitive. Holy panties in a wad Batman.

Are people really this dense? If so, that is beyond sad.

A mixup on my part.

When you said "Crystal", I thought you meant Crystal Meth or something.

If you are referring to the champagne, it is "Cristal".

Don't misunderstand my description of the situation as agreement with it, but merely pointing out that whatever happens with the team's image - good or bad - is in the team's hands, not the hands of a player.

And again, I'd point out that the decision on Pacman involved draft picks and I believe played a factor.

they are. the apologists will defend all moronic things. its the same people, its like they have this oath to protect the idiots.

And for reference as you have been saying, he cant just wear the helmet.

Eli Manning has the commercial for the watch company, I forget the name of the company, but he is just wearing a blue helmet because the giants do not endorse the company.

Same for the oreo cookie commercial, neither manning is wearing team gear because the team did not endorse it.

Its not a really difficult concept to understand, and when you throw in the racial and hate slurs, its even more obvious.

Yep, just like Adam Jones did when he got into a brawl with his bodyguard. Not only did Jerry Jones openly defend him, he brought him back after he served his suspension.

Picking up a guy that is known for going to strip, being involved in shootings and all kinds of nefarious activity does as much harm and maybe even more than a guy "rapping".

I don't believe the Cowboys were wrong for fining Martellus Bennett, I would like to know why the double standard.

So only people that go to "clubz" know how to properly spell a very expensive brand of champagne?

Interesting.

Furthermore, Cristal may be associated with Rappers but it is a brand of champagne that is associated with affluent people in general.

Again I point out the trade agreement with Tennessee and the draft picks involved.

And I also point out that Pacman is no longer here.

And in closing, I would again say that these decisions - good or bad - are up to the team and Jerry Jones to make, not a foolish rookie.

Isn't it also associated with idiots spraying it and getting shot and/or beat up?

Yeah...I believe that part is understood.

That's why I pointed out that it is associated with people deemed more "socially acceptable" to some.

Gotta keep up.
