So injuries that we apparently caused by Matt Johnson's workout regimen in college before he was drafted is the fault of the Cowboy's trainers?

no but they obviously didn't help him enough to keep him from getting injured. Or perhaps he had idiot trainers in college.
Have to agree with the other poster regarding Yoga and flexibility.
Any athlete that's not incorporating serious time to yoga and flexibility, esp a football db, is doing themselves a serious disservice.
I played basketball in college and of course the team had a professional strength and conditioning coach but he was pretty old school, weights and plyos. With all the training and experience I've had since then, if I could go back and do it all over my training regiment would've been very different....
better diet (which they did nothing for us back then), yoga, swimming, core work, hand speed, lighter and more infrequent weighted stuff....etc. Granted basketball is not football but as a db I'd have to think I'd want a similar regiment focused on maximizing speed, quickness, agility, flexibility, and strength in that order.

If I remember correctly, Matt Johnson came into the off season late because of his school's year ending late. He ended up hurting himself almost immediately. You may very well have a point about idiot trainers in college, or even Johnson being an idiot himself by doing extra squats. You also make a good point about the methods that probably should be used.

But it just seemed to be a bit of a stretch to try to put this at the cowboy's training staff's feet when He'd been hurt so shortly after being drafted.

I always assumed that he hurt the hamstrings because he wasn't able to workout with the Cowboys because of the rules due to his graduating class. Then he showed up at OTAs pushing himself to do what the others were doing. There's a difference between being in shape and being in football shape.

Rooting hard for this guy.....will be my fav defensive player if he pans out

I'm a big Spencer fan. He never gets any love. Anyway, I'm rooting for him, too, in a big way. I would love to see us have 3 great safeties. We definitely have some competition there. I like that.
