ESPN's NFL draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. picked the first three rounds of the 2015 draft ... essentially playing GM for each franchise.

So what does Kiper have the Cowboys doing in rounds 1-3?

Round 1: With running backs Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon (Gordon going 24th to the Cardinals) and three other cornerbacks off the board, Kiper has Dallas selecting cornerback Byron Jones of Connecticut with the 27th pick.

Round 2: Dallas goes defense again, grabbing Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Bennett with the 60th overall pick.

Round 3: With the 91st overall pick, the Cowboys select Michigan State running back Jeremy Langford.

How would you grade Kiper's performance as Cowboys GM in the first three rounds?

Would you have wanted Dallas to grab a running back in the second round?

Should the Cowboys try to find a place for Kiper in their war room?

Anytime Kiper has us picking a CB in the 1st rd the CB always ends up suiting up for another team :)

Call me crazy, but I'm really not picky about who the Cowboys select this year.
I think we've addressed our needs nicely (despite what I think about Hardy off the field), and I like the way we're building this team. It's almost like we have a clue now.
So if we get a CB, a DT or DE in the first round, I'm good with that.
The only way I'll be upset is if Gurley is there at #27, and we skip him - and then there'd better be a report that says his knee is Swiss cheese.
But I really believe that the first three players selected will end up playing a major role in the Cowboys ascent to the Super Bowl.
Yeah, you read me right. I said it.

I don;t think the cowboys will pick either of those after the first round...They have shown no interest in Bennett (or top end DTs for that matter) or Langford.

I would love that draft. Byron may end up the best corner in the draft (excellent athlete that looks like a natural football player) and I like Langford a lot. He's as complete a back as they come. He has shiftiness, good burst, great vision, incredible balance and runs with authority. It is difficult to bring him down. Oh, and he can pass block like nobody's business. He feels like a workhorse back that can do it all. In the 3rd, he's a helluva lot better value than most of the other second tier backs in the late first or second.

Not sure I like Jones that early but I could see him in the 2nd if we traded down with our first pick..Jones was team captain and that is Garett's type of player

I don't like him after watching his 2014 highlights, 1st round would be a joke of a pick. Trey Waynes is a first rounder, this guy needs a lot of coaching. Just saying, I had a fullride to play 4 years in college and he is more of an athlete than a plug and play NFL corner.

If the draft unfolds like that (and there is good reason to believe it will), I hope the Cowboys trade down, or trade up. If Johnson, Gurley, and Gordon are all off the board, there is no one that makes sense at 27 for our needs and we can get a Byron Jones type CB in the early second if we were to trade down (or get the best 2nd round RB we can).

Haven't looked much at CB or S but wonder about the kid out of Utah.

I like Rowe... just not at 27. Even if we just traded back 5 spot and got him at the end of the first and picked up a 4th or 5th I wouldn't mind picking a CB so much, but Waynes and Johnson are the only 2 that make sense at 27, and neither of them will fall to us. I honestly think our best move is to trade up 4-6 places, (trading our 3rd for a 4th or 5th in the process) and taking whichever RB falls that far, or even Johnson.

Hard to tell in a draft even if it's the team but you could be right. Sure would like to see that final board. :)

There is no reason to watch highlights. Full games are available.

Byron Jones is certainly worth a #27 pick. There's going to be some real good talent at 27 no matter how the draft falls. But by pick 40 or so I think it's going to be pretty bleak (in terms of value at that pick) so a trade down is risky.

Totally agree. Kiper is the king of making a superficial review of the roster, deciding certain positions are a huge need and then plugging in picks based on what he thinks the need is. Then he calls the team idiots if they don't follow the same strategy.

With the RB's, what they do with other teams has little to do with how they would do with Dallas. A young back going to a team with a crappy QB or crappy OL may struggle, when he might be a stud here with our offense and OL.
