Seeing that Peterson is the guy who said the NFL is like "Modern-day slavery", I bet he's boiling mad.
Sounds like they want him as bad as we do
Which ain't much.
We as the fans, not sure what the Cowboys level of interest is
lol million dollar slavery ! can I be a slave??
I would love being a slave that has 40 mil in the bank !
All Ap would have had to do is take less money, like 3 mil a year and incentives, so that a team might give up some draft choices for him.
And he needed to do it before the draft this year, if he had done that he would probably be a cowboy.
But after the draft and him wanting 12 mil a year, he is stuck with Minn. They have to keep him because they cant get enough for him, and If he retires
they save the 12 mil? and get out of that contract .
I think AP thought jerry would give up 2 first round picks, and 2 2nd round picks , plus pay him same thing minn was just to have the great ap !
And if jerry didnt , surely some other team would.
Now he is starting to see the reality, no one is going to give all that to have him.
You make a key point about trade value before and after the draft.
Minn wanted a 2015 1st rounder (and maybe slightly more) and for someone to take that contract from them, from what I have heard....and they got no takers before the draft.
A 2016 1st rounder doesn't help their cause this year. I doubt they like the idea of another team getting AP this year while they get no tangible 2015 on-the-field return.
They might have wanted that but only because they seriously misjudged the market. 30 year old RB. Massive contract. Domestic abuse. Problems with the front office. All of those factors work to limit the number of teams that would have any interest considerably. Opposing front offices rightly judged that they might be better off taking a wait and see approach and picking him up for a cheaper price at a later date.

Hopefully nil.
nothing better than not trying to improve your team
It's more than just that and you know it. The cost associated with that kind of move is a major influence not to mention he is a 30 year old RB now. As with any investment the is a risk/reward factor to consider. Not to mention that Minnesota has consistently said they want to keep him.
It would be a lot different if Romo wasn't on his last vertebrate, the window for that guy is closing and we're due for another 20 year search for another franchise QB. Make the championship improvements Jerry.

I guess, but if improving my favorite team includes giving up a high draft pick and more money than a 30+ year old running back should make, then I want no part of it. We're improving without Adrian. I want the Cowboys future to be built thru needed draft picks and with a surplus of money spent wisely.
So yeah, no thanks.
I think getting rid of high draft picks for older players is a mistake. I’m just not of the mindset of thinking Romo window and the Cowboys franchise window is the same. I want to see Romo get that SB but I do not want to see Dallas giving all away in hopes of getting it. They have thus far done a great job of putting a team out there who can compete for a SB.
It is almost comical that for so long I have been told how the RB is not that important and now people want to give up a top pick or picks to get 1?
