With Moore signing back with Miami, I don't know that the cap room is there that the Cowboys would pull the trigger for RGIII. Potential although, but CB, S, and DE are still on the agenda for now.

i hope this is the case

If what the article implies is correct..

the logic says we also need to look at starter potential at QB.

If Philly is looking ..

if the 9ers are looking..

If the Panthers are going to be set for several years with Cam..

If the Commanders are going long term with their QB soon..

if the Jints are set with Manning..

we are anything but set at the position going forward.

I think based on the opportunity to draft a quality QB right now..

we don't waste that on ANOTHER DL or DB as a #1 pick.

Those guys can be had next year..especially if we have another 6-10 season.

With our inability to find a real DE and our owners non stop search for pass rush, I don't see us passing on DE in the first round this year...

It's interesting that you always hear how teams can find a QB, RB, ect in the mid rounds...yet this same theory doesn't seem to be mentioned with DE's. Is every single productive DE in the NFL an early first round pick?

Every part of my gut says that none of this year's QBs will amount to anything more than Nick Foles.

Beat me to it...was just thinking about that. As much as I been saying to take a QB while one is there. Even though now I think we should take Elliott, and a QB in the 2nd or 3rd.
I don't have a gut feeling they would be another Foles, but it sure is possible. But also with sitting on the bench a few years behind a decent QB, they would be better.

Say Wentz goes to the Eagles, sits behind Bradford, would he be as good in a few years as if he sat behind Romo. Or if he goes to the Browns, he could be Weeden, but to the Broncos and starts right away, with Elway and their Defense, he would or should be fine, or much better than in Cleveland.

Hey, if they REALLY like one of them, then I'm fine with telling people like me to shut up and take him. Absolutely. In fact, trade up to #1 and get him if you think Aaron Rodgers is there. That would be incredible if they got the next great QB here.

But most of the time, desperation makes these guys seem better than they are. Teams reach and reach for these guys, and they pay for it for years. If you take a QB that high, you're committed to him for 4-5 years, and if he doesn't pan out, you're just throwing away seasons when you could have drafted a tremendous player elsewhere.

Agree, if they are that sure, yes take him.
But with this teams past history of not taking QB's, and JJ's statements about Tony playing QB for 4 to 5 years. This is why I say take the sure fire guy that helps right now. And that is Elliot.
Then take a QB later on in the 3rd or 4th round, or even the 6th, like in Hogan. Let him sit and develop. And if he does not develop, no pick really wasted.
Or if Romo is injured, then they are either picking high again, or they can trade up if really need to.

I like Elliot as well...but, we need a QB. We just do; Its a tough decision for sure. If any other position gets hurt, we can still win.

We cant win , not even a few games, if Romo goes down for any significant length of time, ....... Season over; I cringe every time he gets hit.....

wentz or goff at #4, or not at all.

if the other QB prospects aren't going to amount to anything, better to use a mid-round pick on a guy who will actually help the team.

But you never really know if a QB is going to turn out until you actually work with them. Romo was undrafted and he's made a lot of teams wonder what the heck their scouting departments were thinking? Joe Montana, some think the greatest QB ever, was 3rd round pick.

True but in the history of great QB's.. How many were lower round picks. Brady and Montana come to mind. I'm to lazy to research any more.

That's a subjective question so not sure if the criteria is agreeable but Brady, Montana, Roger, Johnny U, Kurt Warner, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts, Fran Tarkenton, Bart Starr and if you want to include Romo, just to name a few.
