Even if he don't practice, I can see where it will be a "game time decision".
We won't know for sure, unless he's on the field.

Day to day, hour by hour, minute by minute...then....oh, back to....day to day.....Not a thing against McClain, but it's just the way this staff works with the excuses. They can never be straight forward it seems.

I am getting the impression that this inj is legit. It is possibly a bigger injury going forward than if Romo went down. We would be counting on a rookie to QB the defense.

I'm not really sweatin this game. I would rather have him healthy against the Saints.

I hope we have him for the Saints game as well as for this game, I don't take games for granted to begin with and losing players can hurt even vs a team like the Rams. You have Durant out already so now we had Ro to the that list leaving us Hitchens in the middle, Wilbert on the outside along with Carter?

“We certainly have confidence in his ability to play, but we believe in practice,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “He has to practice this week in some way, shape or form for us to believe that he can play in the game
Something tells me this is coachspeak for "don't count on him playing this Sunday" I'm betting.

After today is a walk though on Friday and travel day on Sat so it is not looking good right now. Unless he travels with the team and can show something in warm ups on game day

How long have you been watching the Cowboys?

I didn't think games like that existed.

How long have you been watching is a more appropriate question. The Cowboys generally beat the teams we are supposed to.

Not good... but just for this week I think all we need is the o-line and Murray to get the win

Is a hip flexor considered groin? Because those are the bane of my existence.

I believe they're referred to as two different groups, but I'm not entirely sure.

IIRC, part of the hip flexers kinda run towards your spine and may even attach to your spine. I dunno, undergrad anatomy was a long time ago and I wasn't all that great when it came to staring at old cadavers that looked like beef jerky.

“We’ll see,” Garrett said. “We don’t have these hard and fast rules. But you just kind of make sure these guys have a chance to have success. So he’s in the meetings and he’s participating in the meetings. So mentally and emotionally he’s getting himself ready to play. But we’ll see what he’s physically able to do.”

Not sure how I feel about that. I'd much rather go the Parcells route where if you don't practice, you don't play.

If you're really hurt then heal up because there's no sense in sitting all week and then going zero to hero on Sunday and possibly dragging the injury out longer than if you had sat a week.

If you're not hurt then you can deal with letting the rest of the team down by not being out on the field when you should be.

The comments in the OP give me the impression that Garrett would like to have such a policy but the comment above tells me that they'll find a reason to let the guy on the field.

When a Groin Pull Feel Better?
Everyone wants to know how quickly they can get back in the game after a groin pull -- and how soon the pain will go away. But there's no easy answer. Recovery time depends on how serious your groin pull is. It may take four to six weeks, but that's just a rough estimate. People heal at different rates.

It has been a long time since this team was strong enough to take any opponent lightly. IMO
That is the case when you are a middle of the pack team.

We find unbelievable ways to lose games.

Call the defense? Honestly, with Carter I wouldn't burden him with anything besides his assignments....I don't think he can handle both. One of the things Broaddus mentioned about Hitchens was that he seemed to pick up and know what the assignments were and that it was obvious watching him on tape in college that he was very smart in that regard.

It will more than likely be Carter calling defensive plays in the event McClain can't go. He's done it before.
