We got McFadden for cheap and he proved himself last year. You don't reward the man like that the following year. I think it would be a bad move to trade him now.

Again, I think it depends. We've got Morris on a two-year deal and he might prove in camp to be a real good fit for this offense. Then, we've got our sixth-round pick vying for a spot who might also can contribute on special teams, while none of the other three backs will (not counting Dunbar at the moment).

I don't think what we got McFadden for or him proving himself are reasons not to trade him. If we can get value for what we invested, that's a good deal for the team. But again, it depends on what we see from the other backs. The problem with trading McFadden is going to be him being an older back without much history of success, especially recently, other than behind this line. However, if we end up with four backs worth keeping, I have no problem just getting a late-round pick for him.

We might just keep all four (with Dunbar in reserve when he comes off PUP), but I'm having trouble finding room on the roster for four tailbacks.

Only make a trade if we get very high value in return at a position that we have a strong need, like a pass rusher.

Jerry Jones has coveted McFadden ever since he was a Razorback. Jerry couldn't tough him at the time of McFadden's draft so that's why we had the next best thing in his eyes, Felix Jones. Now that Jerry finally has his favorite Warthog on his team after all these years, he will not be treated like just any other player. McFadden will retire a Cowboy and the only reason that would change is if McFadden asked for too much money and that hasn't been an issue. It's not a good football move but we are talking about Jerry Jones here.

So being a Razorback is more important to Jerry than production? I guess he can do whatever he wants, but that sure sounds more like a mild dig at JJ than an opinion of what they're thinking. Personally I thought Darren did a good job for us last season.

Don't count out Rod Smith for that FB job. I think Jaylon would like to see his brother stick around if possible. As for McFadden and Morris... they are both punishing hard rams that can get the hard yards in a pinch. Darrius Jackson is more of the kind of RB that Dunbar is, if not better.

I don't know that Jackson is or is not capable of dirty yards but he is not the scat back Dunbar is. We'll know more seeing him in camp and preseason. They do have a good stable of RBs now and that's a change so that position is definitely improved.

I definitely don't think any of our backs are the same RB.

Dunbar is strictly a 3rd down, top pass receiving threat, including down the field.
McFadden is a veteran with skills who is better in man-blocking and the best pass blocker.
Elliott is the youngster who has lots of zone run experience, is a good blocker, decent hands, but is a rookie who will make mistakes and tire at times, who also needs to adjust to the game.

I really think Morris is going to be the most surprising RB in camp and in preseason. He is NOT a good 3rd down back, which is why he is trying to become that on his second contract...he's definitely not the best blocker and has suspect hands; however, I think he's going to shock people running the zone blocking behind this OL. His vision, feel, and power is excellent. I expect him to end up #2 behind Elliott. I love DMac and have mad respect for him as RB and as a teammate, but I agree he'll be the guy traded if anyone is.

Elliott starting with Morris as his backup, McFadden as third down back. Don't see Dunbar getting his spot back. He is a bit more exciting out of the backfield but that is the only thing he has over McFadden.

You go tell Washington Safety Kyshoen Jarrett that DMac has never been a physcal runner. Poor kid suffered nerve damage and may never play again.

IIRC he put another DB out later on in the same game near the goal line. DMac was finishing runs last season or do you just choose to forget that?

That is one play.....McFadden goes down from a strong fart.....no legs, push or wiggle

No one will trade for any of our RBs

Morris was a FA and we gave him guaranteed 1.8m, good for ZBS
McFadden is due 2m and will be a roster cut, not good for ZBS
Dunbar is hurt

We didn't spend a 4th overall and 25m on a RB not to use him over a 28 year vet

Funny, the Jones gang says we already turned down trade offers for RBs....and the likelihood is that their value will go up as we get closer to season and someone loses a RB. I have no doubt we could get something for McFadden.

at his age and salary it is highly doubtful....he hit his ceiling last year and that wasn't very high.....don't be fooled by the 1000 yards....it was very mediocre accomplishment.....

You have a gift for exaggeration. McFadden didn't rush for over 1K yards by playing as you say. You clearly don't like him and no one is saying you have to but knock him for the player he is, not the one you think he is.

behind this OL Trent Richardson could get 1000 yards

That's not what Garrett and Linehan like about Dunbar. He adds another dimension to the playbook with his outside runs. But they love the guy's ability to line up in the R or even the S, X and Z as well. He can catch the ball and is a matchup nightmare lined up as a receiver anywhere. The only person close to him might be EE and he won't have the speed, quicks or slipperiness.

Too early unless someone makes an offer he can't refuse. Best to let a team really need a starting G or RB before trading. JMO.
