Is it really a sign of immaturity or lack of consequential awareness? Is Dez's use of social media an example of emotional maturity not befitting a 26-year old? Or is his social media interactions simply not fully contemplated?I don't care about a video, but The way Dez is responding in social media to contract negotiations is revisiting his immaturity, and I find it troubling and silly at this point in his development.
Some people, especially Millennials, are completely immersed within social media culture. Every day, some people use social media to communicate almost anything that makes them feel happy, surprised, excited, etc. Conversely, some people use Facebook, Twitter, etc., to convey thoughts empowered by feelings of frustration, anger, apathy, etc. Communicating via social media is considered as normal as speaking with others face-to-face.
The unilateral problem lies with the fact that communicating through social media has virtually zero restrictions. Whatever you say can potentially get out to the rest of the world. Literally. Some people convey their innermost thoughts to countless others without regard to later consequence. Why? Because they perceive communicating through social media as the same as sharing thoughts with someone they know, believing personal confidence or trust will not be violated. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Bryant is not necessarily showing immaturity about the contract negotiations and rumor mongering through his comments in social media in my opinion. He is just as pissed off as almost anyone else dealing with unexpected circumstances and he's voicing his frustration. Unfortunately, I do not think he understands or cares about any future consequences. That lack of awareness may come back to bite him in the behind down the road. However, Bryant is far from being an atypical example of someone who has reached emotional maturity but does not give a care about what he or she posts for the world to see or read. Not by a LONG shot.
