I figured this as much as the rest of us did. We're not gonna go after Suh and Cobb and huge contracts. Bargain type guys and a great draft will help us go very far.

“I don’t know if active is a good word,” Jones said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I think active can get you in trouble in free agency. I think you have to be efficient and look for your values, and you can do good things.
He is saying all the right things. It seems he may have learned from the Carr deal.

Sounds like the plan is to be good for years, and not just a season or three. Fact of the matter, we're not one player away. When that day comes, I can see the Cowboys making a big move for a player. It's not prudent though at this point.

I have to say that this news disappoints me. I feel that second-tier signings mean second-tier results.

It's great that they want to tout the success they had with Mincey, but for every one of him, I can give you two Nate Livings.

I think we are a premier pass rusher away.

After all, this team managed a 12-4 season and a playoff win without one, imagine what they might have done with one?

I think we would all agree that lack of pass rush is far and away the team's biggest need.

And what success did they really have with Mincey? The guy is mediocre on a bad defense.

For me, I had little to no expectations for the guy so he easily exceeded those.

And he was this team's best pass rusher, as low as that limbo bar was...

But how sad is it when you're trying to brag about a 6-sack guy...

:(

I love to hear this change in Philosophy, big time spending has gotten Dallas no where. Build a team, going all in has not worked.

You're right, we were zero players away. We were the best team in the league last year. It's just that in a single game elimination format like the playoffs, things happen.

very true. but for every manning i can give you ryan leaf. haynesworth. there's a huge list of big name busts that when they got to a new team, it was seldom the same. people tend to act like those who were "meh" elsewhere are always going to be that way and when you remember the dynamics of a HOT player, you always tend to see that player in that light and think he will do the same everywhere.

the only thing anyone can do is the best they can with the staff in place. while again i understand where you're coming from, i can point to the Commanders and say "yea, buying all the big names has worked, huh"?

Yes let's go out and sign all the big names. That's worked so well for so many teams in the past. You don't win that way.You win by drafting quality players, starters and filling in the rest of you team with players who fit your scheme and salary cap.

I think Dallas is doing the right thing. FA cost tends to be more than what you get in return. Dallas going for mid level players and using the draft has gotten them to a point that the cap is in good condition the team is highly competitive.

I would like to see us pick one big defensive stud, then be prudent on other pickups (RB, CB LB etc).
