Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (9) and center Travis Frederick (72) at the line during the first half of their game against the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium Sunday, November 22, 2015 in Miami Gardens, Fla. (G.J. McCarthy/The Dallas Morning News)
Cowboys special contributor Bob Sturm held a chat on Monday. Here are some highlights from the interview.
Why why why are we favored this week? That line has to move right?
Probably will move, but Vegas sees the teams on the field and not the records. If the Cowboys have Romo, they aren't 3-7. They are a home team and are a quality team. I don't think the line, which when I looked was the Cowboys by 1, is wrong. I think it is a pick em, with a very slight advantage to the Panthers, mitigated by home field.
You think Hardy has any extra motivation for the Carolina game this week?
I imagine he does, yes. Every player wants to show up against his old squad. I have no idea his level of animosity, but I am going to go out on a limb and guess he has a few ideas about standing out with a few moments on Thursday.
Assuming Romo stays healthy the entire game, what matchups most concern you about playing the Panthers on Thursday?
The Cowboys haven't seen much zone read as the Panthers run it. They stress you in many ways at the mesh point of the Newton/Jonathan Stewart/Tolbert intersection in the backfield. On offense, Carolina is very physical up front and will blitz to get to the QB. So, there is no doubt the Cowboys will have to sort their periodic issues of blitz pickups and so forth.
