Yeah, I don't disagree with his take on the game.
What bothers me is the amount of time it took during the season (and needing a bye week) to implement any new looks or variations. And the in-game adaptations and adjustments and anticipation of opponents' changes have been even more scant. Garrett is conservative by nature, which means resistant to change. Last years' team was consistent with that, reminding me a bit of the '60s Packers. But the league is now ready for that, and we can't make it work anyway without a sharp QB.
Which brings me to my next point: Romo is like an OC on the field. JG can game plan with the vanilla offense, and Tony will make the D pay if they try to overload anything; he is probably second only to P. Manning in his ability to read defenses and modify plays. So he makes the coaches look brilliant, while making many of those key adjustments himself.
It seems that that offensive coaches have therefore been somewhat exposed -- they don't have Romo to create and make the plays, and also manage the clock.
We can beat Seattle, their offense is not great, have to keep their QB from unplanned runs that could kill us.
Well, if special teams hadn't been a complete disaster, we probably would have won too or at least had the ball with the game tied only needing a field goal to win it.
Guess you didn't see the game last year against Seattle where we kept him contained for the most part. I'm pretty sure you'll see something similar for the most part.I'm guessing Lee will be on Wilson spy duty. If it's one negative against our defense and our focus to "get upfield", is it opens up lanes in case of a running QB like Wilson.
In the cases that we urge the DE's to "turn the corner" so to speak on the pass rush, we'll need Lee/McClain to fill that gap which could potentially hurt us in pass defense. Luckily, their passing game is awful.
Jones' should get plenty of action on Graham, and probably a bracket with safety help more often than not. That's going to be a big matchup. That's a lot to ask for a rookie but I think he's up for it.
