Listen I do not claim to know anything about college players.I was one morning watching rerun of Paxton Lynchs pro day.I thin the best thing the Cowboys did was let this guy go.He has a loong windup and honestly he looks to be as big a project as the one we got.I think the Cowboys when it is all said and done may have some good players I give them a B+

I will express my excitement that the Cowboys have added two more talented pieces to their defensive line and their idea of a deep and full defensive line rotation, which might be void of dominating difference makers. But, one through eight, Dallas finally looks like it has the quality to compete at a pretty decent level.

I'm very hopeful this year's defense will feature the deepest, and most talented, DL rotation we've seen to date since returning to the 4-3.

The entire DL is under the age of 30.

Cedric Thornton, Terrell McClain (if he survives the cut) and Jack Crawford will all turn 28 by early September. They are the elders of the Rushmen.

McClain may not last this season. Both he and Crawford are set to become unrestricted free agents next year.

I went through the exercise of doing a drive-by comp of this year vs last year, at each position group.

There's legit reason for optimism, as long as it's restrained to some degree.

Dallas has the built in auto upgrade of getting 3 of their very best players back before even mentioning any offseason moves or young player progression.

I'd ask any that's curious to just walk yourself through each position group and compare it to last year.

QB..radically upgraded with Romo back. Backup still vulnerable
WR...Dez back means big upgrade. All others as good or probably better with QB
OG/C...awesome...and maybe better still if Collins rises
LT/RT...Smith great, Free ok...but depends on if Green also developed for depth
TE...not better, but still good with Witten

DT...better...Thornton is no cue upgrade. Crawford still developing. Collins may eve help
DE...worse until week 5, then projects better overall..IMO
LBs...very good Wil and Mike. Sam vulnerable. Hopi g young guys improve
CB..big upgrade with Scandrick
S...Jones year 2 should help
