Tank Johnson went through an eight-game suspension last year, so he knows what Adam Jones was going through sitting out for as long as he did. The two have become close since Jones was traded to the Cowboys.
When Jones was reinstated Thursday, Johnson was happy.
"I'm proud of him because it's hard to stay out of trouble when you're in trouble and trouble tends to find out," said nose tackle Tank Johnson, who served an eight-game suspension last year. "We're going to try and keep him on the straight and narrow and he's going to make sure he's OK."
Before Jones was allowed to take part in practices in June, players said they would not hold Jones hand.
"I reiterated to him that we're counting him all the time," linebacker Bradie James said. "That's my thing because we've all got to be accountable to one another. We're counting on him to make an impact out here on our defense and even on special teams. So we need him and he's going to be here, he's going to have to follow suit like everybody else."
