The NFL Network will disappear from Time Warner Cable systems on Friday, said Gary Underwood, the cable provider's spokesman for North Texas. Time Warner had never carried the NFL Network before replacing Comcast as the Dallas area's primary cable provider at the start of August. Time Warner was blocked from immediately dropping the channel by the Federal Communications Commission, which ordered that customers be given ample notice.

It's all about money. The NFL gouges for their content.

NBA League Pass is like $169 (40 games a week), MLB Extra Innings is $179 (60 games a week), NHL Center Ice $139 (40 games a week).

How much is NFL Sunday Ticket? $279. (I beleive 14 games a week)

$100 more than the second most expense plan and a lot less content/games.

You want to scream at someone, maybe you should direct it at the NFL. OF course they will probably just charge more for it if they now you want it that bad.

it is about money, but not like how you present it.

first of all, sunday ticket is on the dish, not cable. if that was a cable package, i'd see your point.

the issue is, TW wants to add the network as part of their sports package, which like these other sports programs, costs extra.

the nfl wants it to be part of the basic cable subscription.

TW is in the wrong IMO. we have comcast up here, and the nfl network comes with cable. simple as that.

I like the commercials that beg me to call in and demand they carry NFL network...f that. If you want them to do it, get it done your damn self. Anyway I have dishnetwork so I don't even have to pay extra for it.

I believe this is exactly the NFL's point about TW. You are happy bacause you get it with the rest of the channels. TW doesn't have a problem carrying the channel, they just want to charge extra for it by placing it in their "sports tier" package.

Glad I'm not a TW customer!!!

The way I have heard it the NFL wants it on basic cable which will cost subscribers and extra $.70 a month and the providers are fighting it because the want it on a sports tier.

Exactly right. TW isn't any "angel" but the NFL can be pricks to deal with.

Your assessment is just plain wrong. This has nothing to do with the Sunday NFL ticket. This has to do with the NFL Network. Time Warner is actually the one trying to charge more, while the NFL channel wants it to be included within Time Warner’s basic package. You really should get your facts and arguments straight on this. You are hating on the wrong organization.

You know what would be nice, competition. At mt house I can get DirectTV or Dish...ATT or Vonage...DSL or Cable.

Wish I could choose from Cabelvision and Comcast, TW, etc... seems like what ever cable company own the lines has all of the rights, maybe that should change ?

No, thank god! I just called Comcast to verify that my NFL network channel wasnt going to be canceled and asked if they had been purchased by Time Warner and they said no to both.

I dont see how Time Warner is going to get away with not carrying the channel once Thanksgiving hits and they are carrying live NFL games. I would think they would lose a lot of viewers to Dish Network or DiretTV.

No, you are dead wrong. Warner wants to charge more because they have to PAY MORE for it. The NFL is charging them an arm and a leg. DirecTV has the sole rights to NFL Sunday Ticket. You know why? Because the NFL charged so much for the rights that it had to be included in the agreement that only DirecTV could have the rights. Otherwise, DirecTV would lose a TON of money. It forces people who want the NFL Sunday Ticket to switch to DirecTV. The NFL Network is the only NFL channel that can use seen on cable, and they don't sell it to them cheap which is why the BIGGEST SPORT in the US is NOT carried by most major cable companies. Why do you think we get (3) discovery channels, (4) ESPN channels, (2) History channels, etc but not the NFL Network?

Here in NY we get the MSG Channel (Madison Square Garden Channel) and YES Network (Yankees network), but not The NFL Network. Why? The expense involved. F the NFL.

:hammer:

What's really pathetic is Time Warner's local Dallas ads. They're actually trying to compete with the dish ads and pimp their NFL coverage by bragging that you can see games in high-def... Which you can get over the air for free with any new TV.

I have Time Warner right now but come hell or high water I *will* go back to Dish or DirecTv before the NFL Channel starts showing live games. I bet TW underestimates how many people feel the same way.

BTW, don't get me wrong. I hate Cable companies too! I protect them in no way, but the NFL Network problem is caused my the NFL. Not the cable companies.

I wish the Goverment would some how get involved.

Any politicians on this forum? How can we get you involved?

It's not fair that TW's customers don't get the previlege of having this channel.

Whether it's NFL or TW, I DONT" CARE.

JUST GET IT FIXED!!!!
