ARLINGTON — On a day when people get sick eating too much, the Cowboys had a quarterback who was too sick to eat and an early 14-point deficit that turned their stomachs.

As Tony Romo is fond of saying, a team can go one of two ways in these games. This was the topic of a spirited discussion among the players at the half of the team’s Thanksgiving Day game with Oakland.

“We said we can’t lose this game,” defensive end DeMarcus Ware said. “At the end of the day, if we lose this game, guess what, now we’re back to the old team, up and down. We don’t want that.

“You lose this game, you’re back to square one again.”

For the first time this season, the Cowboys have moved two spaces beyond square one. Thursday’s 31-24 victory over the Raiders at AT&T Stadium bumps them two games over .500 and, for at least a few days, gives them sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

I'm glad they came out swinging and dominated second half...now if they would do this for entire game...

A little worrisome because that was the problem last year, i.e. worst in the league in first half scoring. There is a little better trend, which is our second-half adjustments weren't just up-tempo, panic mode. They remained patient and systematic in their approach and they attacked with Dez.

they seemed to have a 2nd half plan, and I hope that is because the coaches actually coached and made the appropriate adjustments at half time...the game would not have seemed so frustrating in the first half if not for the opening fumble (and those things happen from time to time)....they got out of their funk, played better and won...that is what is important

So long as the end result is a Win, could care less if they do it an entire game. No team is going to be perfect & it's how they respond to adversity that shows they have Fight in them. They could have very easily carried over that horrible loss to the Saints with them ( & did to some extent early ) & just continue to fall back on their heels & take another disappointing loss. They didn't & that gives Hope. I'll take Hope over Hopeless any day.

Nice to see some halftime adjustments for the first time this year.

I don't really know where this is coming from. I thought we've done a good job of this all year, but admittedly, by digging ourselves in a whole in the first two quarters. If we could come out sharp, as we haven't done all year, then we won't need the second half heroics that we've relied on to win us a handful of games this season.

This is symptomatic of letting the opposing defense dictate your play in the first half.

I dont care how sorry the Raiders are. This was a good victory and a good game to watch.

I just don't agree.

The Raiders are a bad team. I'm not going to pretend anything different to make me feel better about the game. They traveled halfway across the country on a short week to play on the biggest stage of their life. A playoff caliber team has their way with them. They don't have to rally the troops at halftime to make a comeback.

It's sad to see how much the acceptance bar has been lowered with a lot of our fans. Jimmy Johnson would stick his foot in my rear end if I was a player on his team and called that performance a good win.

Right...any win is a great win.
And the Raiders aren't as bad as people make out to be.

No,,they were not.

In fact..had that been a TD for thr Raiders instead of an Int. for Carr..

..we'd be looking at things alot differently right now.

Now Romo, yeah. But I already knew he is tough as nails. He doesn't have to prove anything to me.

Yea. Very few things worse than being nauseated & all that. All you want to do is stay in bed. He is tough. Very much so.

I'm torn about the Raiders. I don't consider them a good team but I do think they have some guys on defense who are pretty good. They've had no continuity for years. Poorly managed. New coach every other year. Bad drafts..

The Raiders came in and almost beat the Cowboys. Who knows how the game would have went without that first fumble.
A Thanksgiving game.

I did not like the Blue unis.
