Benching 600 lbs with Smith's arm length is an unreal feat.

Exactly! I personally think Fred just pulled that number out of his head. There's no way Smith benches 700. 600 maybe? But I highly doubt that with the arm length he has.

Btw, they had Hudson Houch (sp?) on 'on air', one of the mothership's radio shows, and he basically said something I have always suspected.

Smith is a physical freak and has an advantage over most tackles in the league because he has the arm length of a 6'9, 6'10 guy but is 6'5. That means he maintains his quickness, center of gravity and balance in a way that ends can't just dip their shoulders under him like they would with the taller guys.

So consider that when the combine comes around and we're looking at these prospects. If the guy is a shorter than the position find ideal, what's his arm length? If it's up to par and actually longer than usual, then that might actually be a plus.

Not to mention 11 inch hands. Like many people have said, if Tyron gets his hands on the pass rusher, it's game over.

If you can lock a defender out, and that defender can't get to your body because of your arm length, it's a tremendous advantage to have.

Smith, if the bench numbers are to be believed, is a complete physical freak as you mentioned. Foot speed, lateral quickness, length, hand/grip strength, and punch - he has it all. Best of all, he's still very young, has some development still to take place, and is locked up for the rest of his career. One of the best Cowboy draft picks ever.

I love listening to the Travis Fredrick weekly interviews. He is going to be a leader for this offensive line for years to come and a team leader as well. Like I've said many times before, I love it when our offensive line has an extremely smart center. And then to have the physical gifts of Fredrick is just flat out awesome!

need to get larry allen to work with him.lol
i love the attitude and work ethic of all these kids on the oline.

It's so weird to think of them as kids but they truly are super-young.

On what Tyron Smith benches.“If I had to guess I would say probably somewhere between 600 and 700 pounds. He’s massive. It’s impressive to watch him left.”

That is crazy if he really can bench press that much with arms that long.

I remember hearing Demarcus Ware used to power cling like 400+ pounds or something. It's just unreal how strong some of these guys are.

That's about equal to Larry Allen considering Smith's arm length.
