Bengals pleased with ex-Dallas Cowboys safety Williams' workout

10:29 PM CDT on Thursday, March 19, 2009

Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer said he was pleased with former Cowboys safety Roy Williams' workout in Cincinnati on Thursday.

Williams' agent, Jordan Woy, said he plans to continue contract talks with the Bengals, and Williams plans to meet with other teams.

"It was a good workout," Zimmer, a former Cowboys defensive coordinator, told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I wanted to evaluate him from when I remembered him. He's still got some quickness."

Since when do free agents "work out" for prospective employers? Did Brooking work out for us? Kitna?

he still has some quickness? Poor old Roy Williams has not completely succumbed to his old age!

I think it's based on who you are. For Roy Williams, I would assume they made him do a workout before signing him to kick the tires a bit to see where he was. For someone who is highly sought after like Haynesworth, he probably just did a physical.

The workouts also may not be made public. They definitely have to go through a physical though.

Ahaha, it'd be hilarious if he ends up in the black hole known as Cincy. I wish him well and all (I do have his #31 uni), but still... that's gold.

There are some teams I would not play for. Cincy is one of them. I would not put on those drag queen stripes.

Same here. The Browns are notoriously cheap. It is a 2nd class organization.

Yeah, that hideous Bengals uniform is hard to take.

Here's wishing Roy the best.

Maybe his unceremonious exit from Dallas will wake Roy up and help him play with some fire, as he once did. It'd be nice for him to end his career on a high note - playing well and earning respect.

At least Cincy has been to the SB twice. Too bad for them the QB I hate the most was at the helm.

He was definitely one of my favorite Cowboys and I wish him the best wherever he ends up.

I hear you Hos, I read a piece a couple of years back about how some teams are dirt cheap when it comes to facilities and their #1 offender was Cinci.

The article talked about their training facility known as "Spiney Field" and what a piece of crap it was. I have no idea if it is still there are not, they bound to have a new facility currently you would think.

Anyways, it talked about the conditions at "Spiney Field" and how the practice field had big rocks and holes all over the field and how the showers in the lockerroom had rusty pipes and wouldnt drain properly.

It was a real $%^& hole!!!!!!

I would have to imagine the Bengals have a new facility today, I cant imagine any player signing with the Bengals if that facility was still in operation. Just a little story I remembered, now you know why they say the Bengals are notoriously cheap.

Ken Anderson was the QB for the first one.

As to the topic at hand, I find it quite fitting that Mike Zimmer has wound up in Cincy. Its a perfect fit.
