Do the Cowboys target a WR?

What IF this crap is true and Dez is gone does the focus shift to a first round Wr or FA Wr? I hope this isn't true with this team so close to putting it all together could be a huge detriment if it is true.

No. Dez is phenomenal. But outside of the rare talents, you don't win with receivers. You win with defense, a franchise quarterback and a running game. Examples: The Patriots and the Seahawks.
If Dez doesn't come back - which I doubt - you reinvest in the lines (offense and defense) and strengthen your running game (Gurley or Gordon, assuming they're available when we pick).

Probably not, unless one falls in our lap as a BPA option. All contingent upon this rumor and a release (not going to happen).

Defense, O line, or RB will be the pick, same goes for FA.

Maybe in the later rounds if he can return kicks and punts. Need to look at replacing Harris if not signed.
You can not look replace Dez no matter what, not at this point in time. He at least gets tagged, then let it all play out. It will all be out by the draft, then go from there.

I just hope he can play.

Makes sense.

If clear BPA over other players, yes, even in the likely event that the Dez video is a hoax.

I can't help but believe that if Dallas takes a WR in the draft, it'll be in the mid to later rounds and not before. They have far too many significantly more pressing needs than what they do at the receiver position. Defense will take priority, just as Jerry and Stephen have indicated many times.

Odds are Dallas will draft a receiver, I think that last time they didn't was 2008. Don't think it will be in the first 3 rounds, but they will most likely draft one.

We haven't been this deep at WR in a long time though...5 roster players and a couple PS guys they like.

We'll probably bring in a UDFA or two, but I don't think WR is going to be a target this year at all.

I feel that a WR should be selected if that's the best player available at the 27th pick. In my opinion, if Dez is out Dallas' passing game suffers.

Keep all options open.

Target? No.

Draft early if BPA? Possibly.

If a super talent falls to them I don't think they would pass him up. It's possible that at #27 there is only 1 player remaining that the Cowboys had rated as a 1st round talent. If that player is a WR, they probably take him.

I have to agree with that, if the WR is BPA then I have no problem with the pick. Heck if they think they can handle DGB, I don't have a problem with that pick either.

The draft isn't about filling holes, its about adding talent. Sure we can lean towards certain positions, but at the end of the day BPA just has to rule or it will lead to reaching.

Do you feel this way if Dez is out?

Out? Is he going to be banned from the league?

If I knew he was "out" tomorrow, I would sign a guy like Cobb (Green Bay) in free agency.

On a side note, the WR coach Dooley has made comments more than once this off-season that he really likes Devin Street.

I would prefer to trade down if possible.

Based on worse case scenario. As I said hope it's not but was curious what people thought if something bad happened.
