Do we gamble one more year?

Do you guys think we try to milk everything out of Flozell and Columbo for one more year?

I'm asking because I wonder if Jerry neglects O-line again this year and goes for the sexy picks early for one last year before we focus on O-line in the early rounds in 2011.

If you get an Earl Thomas and Dexter McCluster in rounds 1 and 2 this year, think about how set you are at skill positions for the next 4-5 years.

Romo
Austin
Witten
Bennett
RW*
Barber
Felix
Choice
McCluster
Maybe even throw Phillips in that mix

That's an extremely young and loaded set of skill players on offense. I don't see a need to draft offense skill players for at least a few years if we got a McCluster.

Looking at the defense, it's the same thing. What positions are a need? Safety and ILB. Well if you get Thomas, look at how much the defense is improved. We're pretty much still young everywhere on defense except Brooking for the next 3-4 years.

With those two players added, look at the flexibility that gives you for the next 3-4 drafts. Your extremely loaded at every position expect ILB and O-line. You could dedicate the next 3 first rounders on Lineman and STILL be loaded everywhere. Meanwhile, we get by with the lineman we have.

I don't see any lineman drafted this year starting for us anyways. Therfore no real impact in the games unless an injury occurs.

Basically what I'm saying is that I think Jerry goes all out this year and drafts only 3 players, but those players being high quality to get us over the hump and impact the games in 2010.

I think the OL is set in stone for next year. I don't see any changes. I think offensively, unless we shuffle out Anderson at FB, there won't be any changes.

I think this year is about creating depth at OL to prepare for the future. Free could replace Flo, but I kind of doubt it.

I agree. I think the Cowboys will draft an OL pretty early (1st 3 rounds) and another OL later (most likely interior) and develop them.

And with Free and Brewster at OT's....

But Free isn't going to start over Adams or Colombo. Free will be on the bench next year, I agree.

The sad thing is he shouldn't be. Some would argue Free is a safer bet than Colombo at this point in their careers.

McCluster at 27 wouldn't be bad to me...

What!?!? McCluster is a late 2nd-early 3rd round pick!

Well I would like to see a game changer like him in Dallas, especially in the slot.

I would too, but he can def. be had in the 2nd or 3rd round. I'd also love to get either Javier Arenas or "AOA" (the guy with the really long name) for depth at CB, and also being our punt/kick returner.

Think about how our past two seasons ended. Our OL failed us in each of those season enders and it was because of injuries.

We will get O-lineman injured this year. Bank on it. We had them last year and the year before and now they're all a year older.

We need to draft enough offensive lineman to almost completely overhaul the reserves spots.

Our "plan" should be to have the best depth OL depth in football for 2010. Free is the only player I'm 100% confident can play next year and has a big future for us.

I want to see us draft 2 OL in the first 3 rounds and another 2 after that.

God I hope we don't crap another year away without bringing in some quality O-line. I wanna see us bring in T, G, C in the 1st 5 rounds...

I dont think youll see that. Most likely a tackle and a G/C. B/C Free and Brewster are both making the team and w/ our luck Proctor

If you do not draft for O-line depth this year and start developing for when the current players do leave, then all those skills position players won't mean squat.

Okay assuming we get 3 olineman next year. They're going to come in and start? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. We'll take two lineman this year. One in the first two rounds and one in a later round. They will be ready in 2011.

I don't anyone is saying that the will start - but Jerry better at least use pick 1 or 2 on a O lineman - an one in late rounds -

I am kinda liking J'Marcus Webb, West Texas A&M or
Tyler Eastman Maine both OTs late

he gotta be thinkiing of the future

As much as I don't want it to happen, yes.

Romo gets to run for his life for another 16 games.

He didn’t run for his life. If anything, he needs better protection from the TE, FB, RB positions.

I don’t get the crazy fuss over OL at all. We have sucked getting players in the draft at that position but have done really well in free agency. Why not just go the route that has worked best? And besides, the entire line still has life left in it including Flozell. I saw nothing that would suggest he is on his last leg. He struggles against speed rushers, that is nothing new. If there is one spot i would still like to upgrade is Kosier, the runt of the litter.
