Do you guys think we try to milk everything out of Flozell and Columbo for one more year?
I'm asking because I wonder if Jerry neglects O-line again this year and goes for the sexy picks early for one last year before we focus on O-line in the early rounds in 2011.
If you get an Earl Thomas and Dexter McCluster in rounds 1 and 2 this year, think about how set you are at skill positions for the next 4-5 years.
Romo
Austin
Witten
Bennett
RW*
Barber
Felix
Choice
McCluster
Maybe even throw Phillips in that mix
That's an extremely young and loaded set of skill players on offense. I don't see a need to draft offense skill players for at least a few years if we got a McCluster.
Looking at the defense, it's the same thing. What positions are a need? Safety and ILB. Well if you get Thomas, look at how much the defense is improved. We're pretty much still young everywhere on defense except Brooking for the next 3-4 years.
With those two players added, look at the flexibility that gives you for the next 3-4 drafts. Your extremely loaded at every position expect ILB and O-line. You could dedicate the next 3 first rounders on Lineman and STILL be loaded everywhere. Meanwhile, we get by with the lineman we have.
I don't see any lineman drafted this year starting for us anyways. Therfore no real impact in the games unless an injury occurs.
Basically what I'm saying is that I think Jerry goes all out this year and drafts only 3 players, but those players being high quality to get us over the hump and impact the games in 2010.
