dboys, I think your topic is good, but your choice of words is poor. You always have good posts, I'm not trying to be an ***, sorry if I came off that way. Again I'm not trying to start anything.

Thanks. But let me make sure you understand I don't see them as being stupid. AB wasn't stupid but his lack of judgment made him appear that way to many. We don't have anyone on the team in his league by far.

Again. They are bad habits. On the fumble today by Crayton. He wasn't carrying the ball poorly like he does at times. But he was not prepared to get rocked and/or stripped of the ball. The hit on him appeared to be totally unexpected. That's due to just having poor habits and he's a little too experienced at this point in time to be still doing that. He should have been expecting to be hit and prepared to hang on to the ball. Being basically mid-year with 3 years behind him he should be better than that.

But I think he'll learn from the experience. He's not stupid. :)

Fair enough but what if he does not change? This would be a mute point if the problems disappear. For example TO and Barber started giving he ball to the officials because of the delay of game penalties. That is smart move.

What do you call someone that continues to make the same mistakes over and over again.

Would you prefer another defining word then?

Depends on the mistake and the situation doesn't it?

I think the horse collar is stupid. Not the tackle, the rule. I think some flags thrown are stupid. I think Pass Interference is too quick a flag and they don't allow DBs to be physical any more. It's football. All those rules do is penalize physical football players.

Are physical football players by definition "stupid?" I don't agree with that.

Again, to me a stupid team is a team that is blowing it on the field, and 6-1 does not define that. They also blow it off the field. I don't see our guys saying or doing stupid things. I just don't agree with you at all.

Two guys agree with me. I'm fine if the majority doesn't.

OL Penalties...
Crayton dangling the ball instead of covering up with both hands. I mean how many times do you have to fumble before you figure it out.
Broken tackles due to not wrapping guys up...

I was hopeful this stuff would go away when Wade took over but it is still here. People blamed Parcells but our team is still making the same dumb mistakes as last year. This is basic football so there is no excuse.

I know we are 6-1 but NE is a perfect example you won't get away with it against good teams. After the bye we play some tough football. Will we correct the mistakes or continue to shoot ourself in the foot?

We are a stupid team until proven otherwise.

Do you watch other games during Sundays?

There are turnovers, penalties and missed tackles in EVERY game.

I don't think your post is stupid, and I don't think you are stupid. But I do think we have some very ignorant fans. IMO you are asking a valid question. I wish you weren't doing it with an accusatory tone, but I respect your topic.

I just disagree with the word stupid as it describes this team. I am very disappointed in some fans. Again, not you. I do think it is mind boggling that so many can appear to be so unhappy and we're 6-1. Blows my mind.

I started this thread to consider the big picture. We are not going to win against good football teams playing like this.

Give it whatever name you want and that is my point.

I call them stupid out of 3 years of frustration.

The word used to describe them doesn't matter to me.

I just see a big problem that needs to be addressed if we are going to make a serious run at the Super Bowl.

I just think calling our team stupid is pretty silly, especially sitting at 6-1. I am not under any illusions that we are invinceable, but we must not be too stupid, all things considered. I just can't stand when we are overly critical of our team.

Good point about crucial times.

I miss the discipline on Jimmy Johnsons teams.

I seem to remember Leon Lett sliding into a ball on Thanksgiving and giving the game to the Dolphins. Even the vaunted Jimmy Johnson coached teams of the 90's made mistakes.

I believe that some people are far too critical when it comes to this team. This thread, the thread where people were upset because we didn't blow the Vikings out, all of the Roy Williams should be benched threads. What are you guys after? New coach, New coordinators on both sides of the ball, injuries, all of the mistakes that are made and we are STILL 6-1 and clearly the best team in the NFC. I wonder if we were sitting at 7-0 and were winning every game by a margin of 50+ points what you guys would find to complain about. Surely there would be something, I can see the thread titles now.....

Our ball boy must be ********, he threw the ball 20 yards and missed the sideline.. what an IDIOT.

Texas Stadium SUCKS... I couldn't get mayo on my hotdog.

The media hates us, they didn't show me in the stands. I had my Romo jersey on and everything.

This team is stooooopid, they were wearing their 3/4" cleats instead of their 1/2" cleats MBIII would have had 500 yards rushing if they had been wearing the right shoes.

Of course I am being facetious, but some of you guys need to find a life outside of football. The fact that we are finding ways to win, with all of the mistakes speaks volumes to me about the integrity of this team. I haven't felt this good about the Cowboys in quite some time. Point to how the only teams we beat are all patsies and don't belong in the NFL all you want. I will still take those W's regardless of how they come or who we beat to get them.

Count me in the minority as well Hos.

Today, the Patriots had 5 penalties for 40 yards. The Cowboys had 4 penalties for 36 yards.

Are the Patriots stupider than our Cowboys? Inquiring minds want to know.

You have great points. I think people are reacting to the label of stupid. It may just be too harsh for some or even most.

But those players need to make a decision. They can continue to make the same mistakes by not addressing the problem(s) or they can continue to do the same things. Like Flo getting called for false starts. The reason those aren't stupid is because he is not stupid. And he is just not good enough to cover fast DEs without getting a very good jump on them. He needs to work on his reaction time, foot speed, overall speed, agility, strength and flexibility. Then he won't be on the razor's edge trying to keep DEs off his QB.

Right now for him he can either false start sometimes or allow more sacks. That's a no-brainer.

Same thing with Crayton. I'll bet you if he starts getting fined or just gets reamed out as well as going through drills wrapping up the ball and carrying it, he will not fumble as much. So it's not stupidity but a lack of desire to correct certain behaviors. Now if he gets drilled over and over and still fumbles then he just won't have a job or won't see the field as much nor make as much money. It's his choice.

I just don't see it as stupidity but really choices. Some people would go as far as calling it discipline.

Just words.

Sox are up big. I love em.

Great post brother.

I still think the biggest reason why people complain about their team so much is the simple fact its the only game they watch every week.

If they would watch other teams they would have something to compare our play to.

Instead, they watch the Cowboys and thats it.

They don't see the missed tackles, the drive killing penalties, the dropped passes, "poor" safety play, and so on and so on.

These are all common factors in every game, no team plays PERFECT football every Sunday.

Even the Patriots had stoooopid penalties today and missed tackles.

They gave up 6 yards a carry and allowed Cleo to play an all-right game.

Bottom line is without anybody else to compare our play to they expect perfection, they don't get it, and then they pout about it here.

That's like predicting a game based off of a common opponent. A better comparison is NE @ DAL on penalties.

That fact enough for you?

bingo.

we play very stupid and in the past 3 games our coaching was also subpar.

what "good team" have we beat other than the NYG - barely - for our home opener. we shot ourselves in the foot so many times it's not funny.

yah we're 6-1 but i consider we should be 1-2 the last 3 games playing poorly in all 3.

Yep :(

Giants and Commanders apply a ton of pressure. Let's hope it does not magnify the problems.
