I know Parcells is very nervous about not enough Veteran WR, but just throwing this out there. We could keep Copper this way. Glenn/Crayton/Rector/Hurd/Copper Just a thought.:starspin

If I understand his contract correctly...He will count $6.66 mil on the cap this year with a $5 mil salary and $1.66 prorated signing bonus if we keep him. If we cut him before the season starts we save the $5 mil salary but the SB would accelerate into this year for a $5 mil hit. So we would save $1.66 on the cap this year by cutting him before the season starts. After the season starts his $5 mil salary will be guaranteed so if we cut him then he will count $10 mil I think (some of the SB could roll to next year...not sure on that point). It's not going to happen but if we cut him it needs to be before the season starts.

Time for bloggers to express their opinion about what to do with TO.
Cutting TO before the season starts makes a lot of sense. With a 1.66 mil
cap hit instead of 10 mil, the Cowboys could trade/sign for another
WR.

I was a supporter when they signed him. I am so sick of him, I don't care what the cap hit is. I wish they would cut him. Let him go somewhere else and cause problems. Or.. let him just sit on the bench all season

I could care less. He's such a distraction that I can't stand him. I'd rather win 6 games at this point than have him on the roster.

I'll kick in $20 if it'll help.

I remain convinced TO will help this team this season. I'm sure it's frustrating for him to be down with the hammy. Remember, it is the media who are making everything out to be teetering on the edge of disaster. They are not to be trusted.

exactly...the guy has always worked hard to be a great player ON the field

his problem has always been his mouth, and that hasnt been an issue here so far...

As I've said before he hasn't said anything that just can't be ignored by Parcells and the organization. But he has been running his mouth and it seems to be getting more provocative as this deal goes along. As you say...it hasn't been an issue so far.

How would this work if we traded TO?

Irrelevant. Nobody, nobody will trade for TO. Eagles went that route and nobody bite. Only a couple clubs were interested and they only wanted to give 1 year contracts and minimal money.

Only Jerry offered a multi year big money deal because he could change TO. Yeah.

This thread is totally stupid...calling for cutting TO. Do you realize how that sounds. What has he done besides try to get his hamstring in shape....come people, what are you thinking. You seen how we played, so don't think we can do it without TO, because we probably can, but just think what we can do WITH TO.

It's preseason. How many times did Emmitt really play. Remember Emmitt brought his own personal trainer in for his hamstrings. Granted, he practiced, but got what, maybe 5 carries in the preseason games. Deion "the toe" Sanders, seemed he missed quite a bit of practices. Di you want these guys cut?

Until Owens actually DOES something in a Dallas uniform, these analogies are irrelevant. Emmitt Smith helped this team win Super Bowls. Deion Sanders helped us win a Super Bowl.

Terrell Owens?

He hasn't done squat.

Yet.

I've never seen a stupid hamstring injury cause such a wide range of ridiculous reactions. We are not cutting or trading Owens for getting injured or being late for rehab meetings to deal with that same injury.

The media is intimating that Owens is faking the injury just to spark controversy and get more articles written. When he's healthy, he'll play.

A stupid hamstring injury that just happens to belong to a player kicked off of two teams for being stupid. There is no such thing as a stupid reaction when it comes to TO, he's brought it all on himself and any team that pays him.
