I've been trying to figure out all season we've seemed to have a problem rushing the ball. Most of our numbers have just come from running late in games or Barber doing what he usually does. It seems like on every rushing play, we've got 3 guys waiting for the RB, and at some point, it WILL get us in trouble in a game that matters.

The RB will only be as good as the blockers in front of him. Today it didn't seem to ever be any blockers in front of JJ or Marion.

We need a game changing back like Darren McFadden! The more I look at it the more I could see McFadden running wild behind that massive offensive line.

I think this game also pretty much showed that Proctor is a short term backup and no more.

Tony Sparano is doing a great job of getting our rushing attack on track. And man, he really has created some great schemes in December with the run blocking of the O-Line:rolleyes:

Our run blocking has been suspect all year.

As much as I like McFadden I can't trade my #1's for him. He's a great talent but you don't know if your getting a R.Bush or A. Peterson. Besides there are other good RB later in the draft.

If Parcells would of drafted S. Jackson this probrobly wouldnt be an issue.:lmao2:

Yes. I wanted us to hire Marco Rivera as an Assistant OL Coach with exactly that focus. I still wish we had.

I'm not saying it's all Soprano's fault but our run blocking has been suspect ever since he's been in charge of our o-line. I used to think it was because of the players (Rivera especially) but I'm beginning to think it's the coaching/scheme.

It seems clear that this line was designed and is trained and schooled to be a pass blocking group first and run blocking a distant second.

Chris Johnson :hammer:
I'd take him for sure, but I think I want Barber to be the guy next year. I'd almost rather try and find a compliment for him than a replacement for Julius. Still, a very solid idea and I'd be in favor of it. Especially with a 2nd round pick.

Ray Rice or Jonathon Stewart in the 1st might be decent too. I really like Rice, but Johnson in the 2nd seems more palatable to me.

oh definitely, whatever happens, we need to pair a good back w/ Barber, Barber deserves his shot next year

Part of the problem is that you have no Gurode and there's probably a greater chance of getting players injured on run plays than on passing plays. If we never use the outside pitch play, it wouldn't be soon enough...we lost 3 or 4 yards on that play about 90% of the time regardless of who is running the ball. Also, no Owens means that you're not stretching the field very well.

McFadden wouldn't have been able to find any holes to run thru today the way that O-line was blocking.
