Remember the HUGE circus when we signed Tank? Yeah, me either.

If you really think that this will come anywhere close to the TO circus, you are nuts. I'd put it much closer to the attention the Tank acquisition brought.

Just the fact that you're comparing Adam Jones' situation to that of Tank Johnson shows me who is nuts around here. Johnson didn't have nearly the amount or severity of arrests that Jones has had. Plus, Jones has at least two incidents that are still up in the air. He could be charged with those crimes at any moment, and be gone.

The big thing is that we have two 1st rd. draft picks, and plenty of CBs/RSs who are younger, hungrier, and DON'T HAVE PERMANENT INK STAINS ON THEIR FINGER TIPS!! Many are as gifted as Jones, and will actually attempt a tackle other than the old, "Matador tackle". You know, when the runner approachs them, they turn to the side & shout, "Oley!", like Jones did in Tenn......:laugh2: .

Yup. Must be my perception of the situation that is way out of whack.

I cannot for the life of me understand why the Cowboys or the fans would want this punk here. He has done and said nothing to make anyone other than his own mother believe that he has changed anything about his personality or attitude. In every interview he makes excuses for what happened and has yet to ever take a single grain of personal responsibility for anything he has ever been arrested for.

It has always been a misunderstanding, someone else's fault, someone out to get him, he wasn't there, the chick fell on his fist, whatever, but NEVER his fault or responsibility.

The guy is a waste of time and doesn't DESERVE to be in the NFL, I don't care how talented he is. Why any Cowboys fan would want the guy here is a complete mystery to me but then again I said the same thing about Owens so what the heck do I know.

Please Jerry, restrain yourself and don't make this stupid deal.
:bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

If we were talking about using the 6th pick overall, I am 100% with you and I stay far away. Lucky for us, another team was that stupid (see Tennesse).

Now, I have absolutely no problem with it and I cant understand why any Boyz fan would. Honestly, this is a no brainer here. We are getting a top 10 CB on a dirt cheap contract for a bag of Doritos and a Budweiser.

We are talking about a 7th rounder and a bench scrub (Ed Werder stated Akin Ayodele or Anothony Fasano) for a top 10 CB. You know how much a top 10 CB would cost in free agency, try $10 mill per season. Pac has 3 years left on his deal at like 1.5, 1.8 and 2.5 or something close to that (dont remember actual values). The point is you could barely get a waterboy in free agency with that type of contract.

If Pac screws up and gets a lifetime ban, we are out a 7th and a player that probably would have a hard time making the roster this year anyways (Fasano could drop to 3rd string and Akin will ride pine for Zach).

I am not losing sleep over either one of these guys being shipped to Tennesee.

It's not about conditional picks.

It's not about including players to finalize a trade.

It's not about how much someone loves or hates a player.

The one and only true issue still boils down to this:

Each team should be able to depend upon every player on its roster for every game barring i-n-j-u-r-y.

That's it.

Now, if Adam Jones keeps out of ALL trouble and remains healthy, it's a win-win for everyone.

If he doesn't and Goodell slaps him with another suspension, it is a pathetic and unnecessary circumstance for him and the team. It's even more pathetic if his services as a quality starting cornerback are negated because of a suspension that prevents him from subbing for Newman or Henry if they are not in the picture also.

It's just that simple.

I have made clear the misgivings I have about hiring a thug who has a rap sheet longer than his arm, with two of the incidents still under investigation. I wonder, though, if Jerry Jones has thought about the circus he will bring into Dallas should Jones become a Cowboy.

I believe it was a big reason BP retired. Is Phillips any more ready than Parcells? With two 1st rd. draft picks & a CB draft class second to none, is it really that important to ask for this kind of trouble?

I simply cannot see how Jerry can justify the negative with whatever positives will come out of this. How will his relationship with Commisioner Goodell be affected with the Cowboys being the only team to break ranks & seek a trade for Adams when the other 31 teams passed?
I love the Circus.

No he doesnt. The last incident at the strip club the charges were dropped. it was clearly her trying to cash in on his reputation. now while that does bring up a different concern his last legal concern was the obstruction charge and they worked a plea deal.

Also i have not heard that jones will not tackle. Actually i have heard that he is extremely physical for someone his size.

If you want to bash him then fine but at least check your facts.

Hes an alcoholic, angry, misogynist is a valid bash but this tripe is not.

I thought all this had been discussed already, but I will say:
Relax. Get over it.
The "thug" argument is a weak but flailing argument.
Jerra isn't gonna throw money to sign Pac-Man without assurances and incentives. And Calvin Hill will be on the case.

Beyond that, let Jerra win the way he knows how.
The Deions, T.O.s the Pac-Mans will win him championships.
If that is not enough to satisfy you and the soccer moms then you can quit rooting like several others here threatened.
The way I see it, more space for me at the new stadium. More popcorn at this "circus" which I will enjoy.
Enjoy cause we are very close in having the best CB tandem in the NFL and our line will, I hope, take advantage and destroy what is left of of the opponents' passing game and stop cold their running.

I hope all you soccer moms can deal with this imminent signing.
Or, we shall miss you.

:)

I'm sure he hasn't.

The billionaire owner of the highest profile franchise in the National Football League has no idea what he's doing by going after this guy. The public relations nightmare that will ensue is being completely overlooked by him.

He needs Cogan from Cowboyszone.com to show him the light. He thinks about things from all angles. Jerruh should have stuck to the oil business.

It all depends on what they pay to get for him. Dallas didn't need Tank's circus either, but he was so ridiculously cheap and didn't cost them a draft pick that it was a no brainer to sign him. If Dallas doesn't pay much for Pacman, than it's a no brainer of a deal as well. If Pacman gets a Tank Johnson type of deal, then there's just too much reward for little risk for the Cowboys...or really any team....to ignore.

It's like saying the Cowboys could get a 150% return on investment with 10% risk and saying that they are stupid for doing so. It's when there's a 150% possible return on 50% risk is when the Cowboys should avoid the deal.

I don't understand why some people feel like the team is marrying the guy by signing him. If he screws up, they will simply cut him. But heres a thought. What if he doesn't screw up? What if he finally gets it? What if the vets and Calvin Hill get him to buy into the program and straighten up? If these things happen, he will upgrade 2 spots that we badly need upgraded and help push this team towards a superbowl. If they get him for a low round pick and get him under contract with a deal that won't hurt the cap, this is a no-brainer situation. Yeah, its a gamble but it's one with a huge payoff if you win.

What circus? There was no circus when Tank came into town and unless Pacman is trying to live large and bring attention to himself there will not be a circus here either. If he makes a mistake and the circus comes to town and we cut him then Barnum and Bailey go away.

This is just fearmongering.

And another thing, everyone talks about how what if we are on a playoff run and he screws up and we falter then thats just so horrible. i counter that with if losing him scuttles the run then we needed him to make the run in the first place. thats not a good reason to not get him.

Thats a good reason to draft a CB early to hedge your bets.

All I gotta say is;

WE are the CIRCUS, not one player. Not any one player, or one who could ever be, regardless who his name is. The Dallas Cowboys are the "circus".

The problem isnt the risk reward with the investment for some fans. They just have a moral objection to the investment. They see it as like getting rich off foreign child labor.

Of course I don't agree with these morons.

While I'm not convinced that acquiring him is the right move, I'm also not convinced that Pacman would be a circus in Dallas. At least not of TO proportions.

I actually think Parcells was part of the problem (not all certainly) with the 2006 circus around TO.

Wade is so dog-gone "aw shucks" about everything that he tends to not fuel those kinds of things. Parcells was so tightly wound that it exacerbated things with TO IMO.

Exactly.

Wade is dumb like a fox and handled the TO situation perfectly with the media last year:

"Wade, how is it coaching TO? Any issues?"

"Oh no, he's great. He comes in, works hard, practices full speed... Sometimes I'd have to pull him off some practice reps because he went so hard he was wearing himself out. Really, I've never had a problem with a player."

~ silence ~

I mean, where can the media go from there? Pretty much nowhere, except to another subject.

The same thing will happen with Pacman. As long as he stays out of trouble *off* the field, I don't think there will ever be an issue.

For there to ever be a 'circus', something has to happen.

And if or when that something does happen, Pacman Jones will be cut, suspended for life, and probably arrested and thrown in jail.

That would end the 'circus' pretty quickly.
