I'm kind of at a loss with this one after last year. Obviously the receivers like him and he has done a good job in some instances, but I didn't see anything special this last season. Crayton, TO, and Williams all had issues getting open.

It appears as though he did some good work with Hurd and Austin, but whos to say that just wasn't hard work.

Do you care if he leaves to become the head coach of the Rams?

I think he is a good coach, coaches coach but they don't play the game that is the player at some point the finger also needs to be pointed at the players. As you said Austin has developed nicely under Sherman. Hurd had been coming along but continues to have issues with injuries not much Sherman or any coach can do about that. Now if Sherman has a chance to elevate his career I certainly would not blame him or think less of him for taking better job

Hurd and Austin have been developing nicely for UDFA if you ask me.

I see him as one of our best assistants.

Ray is not the problem. We need some serious tweaks to our offensive philosophy. We need to ditch a lot of the quasi spread (Gawd I hate the spread) crap from our play book and add more timing patterns. For the life of me I can't remember the last time we ran a slant route 30 yards or otherwise :).

He's been a very good coach for us and it would be better for us to keep him. However if he's offered a HC obviously he should jump on it.

Same here. I though he was one of our most impressive coaches on Hard Knocks.

I think he's a good coach. The main reason I'd like to see him stay is his relationship with Owens. Sherman leaves and Mount T.O. is more likely to erupt without him here.

I like Ray alot and he's probably one of few coaches who the players actually respect and listen to. Again, its extremely difficult for asst coaches to fully enforce their will on the team when our HC is so layed back and soft. WP coaching style has really destroyed this team. No discipline, respect, fear, and a lack of hard work has ruined the Boyz. The asst can only do so much without underminding the HC. It's a really bad situation..

this is on the players. they need to take what the coach gives them, then go to the practice field and do rep after rep after rep.....they need to do so many reps that every single route they run becomes second nature and it just flows from their body, like Jerry Rice and Marvin Harrison.

They also need to practice with Tony a lot. All of our offensive weapons need to get on the same page during the offseason, that way when the regular season comes, we can be an efficient, well-oiled machine.

I'd prefer to keep him if possible, he's done a good job with Austin and Hurd IMO and we need someone to hone RW11's game/route running

It will just be one more reason T.O. has to be unhappy.

Sherman is T.O.'s sounding board right now.

I wonder if John Garrett would become the WRs coach and we'd move Wes Phillips to TE Coach if Sherman left?

Just guessing.

You know as I watched this year, I couldn't help but notice that we do not run any slants. It is a very effective route. Do you think we don't run them because TO doesn't like to run it and get hit? Not saying .... just asking.

I think he's actually one of the few coaches (along with John G. and our maligned DC) with FIRE AND ENERGY on the sideline.

it's too bad jerry and wade are jason such enablers to players that they fear NOTHING and any authority he might have is usurped.

lets face facts, our top coaches are not feared nor respected by the players.

I think you have to have someone strong with that group.

A guy like James Lofton may come free - you'd certainly think that the WRs would respect someone with skins on the wall like him

Is that really the case? Or is he just reacting to getting yelled at?

When Team Obliterator yells at a coach what options does said coach really have (considering wade then jerry will back the player) on the table.

That is like giving an SWAT Officer a gun without bullets.

I am still waiting for Jerry to hire Jim Garrett as the strength and conditioning coach...
