People similarly hated on Nick Hayden for being the best of limited options while he consistently outperformed his contract.

And like Hayden, Heath cost us nothing. I'd rather use 2nd and 3rd round picks on Jaylon Smith and Michael Gallup with Heath as a below average starter at a non-premium position.

Heath + Gallup >>>>> a small upgrade from Heath

Would you have given Earl Thomas more than 40 Million after two major injuries? Or traded a #1 for him?

Every move the fans have talked about for upgrading over Heath have been overpayments. This is Heath's last year starting, but that doesn't mean money-whipping FAs is a better answer.
Well there were three guys available when we took that waste of fresh air Trysten Hill...

80% of this Forum wanted Jeff Health off the field and almost every big play by the Lions today was on Darian Thompson.

Heath is below average and better as a backup, but you still have to be careful what you wish for. For all the posters saying "anyone but Heath", Thompson could easily have cost us the game against a better opponent.
Yes.

Way too early to make that call. DLaw was considered a bad pick here for his first three seasons. And the entire league ridiculed the Cowboys for taking Travis Frederick over Shariff Floyd.

How’d Hill do today. We could’ve had Thornhill.

Heath has started years he never deserved to start, and because of that he has "forced experience" which has made him average at best.

So of course he will have and edge over Thompson.

I dont miss either, and they both suck.

How about that.

How about that.

How about Heath doesn't suck but isn't great, which makes him a whipping boy around here. And Thompson did suck today, though he won't always, which proves the "anyone but Heath" crowd completely wrong.

Best safety at getting burned?

Every Defensive player gets beat every now & then. But what makes them good or great is consistency and the ability to be in the right place at the right time.

Xavier Woods is the only safety we have that tends to do those things.

I guess people don't like it when you let them know that you know that the coaches know more about the players than they know.

I dont believe it proves anything when all you have to boast about is a guy that wouldnt start on any other team in the league including the bottom five bottom feeders.

BTW, Thornhill has played one more game than Heath and has one less tackle, two less PD but has one pick to Heath's 0.
