Do you think Brandon Carr would be a better at free safety?

i remember when he played safety for us in the past he looked natural out there.

he struggles covering big receivers off the line anyways.

but he has ball hawk skills .

i think church and carr could be a great tandem...carr is not going to light anyone up with the big hit ...but he might be a better fit at free safety with his ability to find the ball.

i would prefer we get a earl thomas or chancellor type safety. ....wish i knew were we could find one.

any good safeties in the draft this year we could get in the second or third rounds?

I think Carr is our best corner. He struggled, but he also shut down Jackson, Garcon, and others, while getting abused by Mega.

My favorite attribute he has IMO, and its a big deal, health. The dude don't miss games.

Brandon Carr never shut anyone down. The fact that he got abused by nobodies like Andre Holmes showed that he's poor when he actually gets the ball thrown his way and Carr doesn't discriminate in letting receivers beat him.

If he keeps playing like he has in his Dallas tenure, he will be cut. And then we can only hope Claiborne doesn't follow suit in continuing to play the way he has over the past 2 years.

Seems to be a top heavy draft at safety. Look in round 2.

Where were you? He shut both Jackson and Garçon in our first meetings.

I never said he was great all season, but at least he was healthy.

It's hard to really judge him when we have a depleted line that can't put pressure on a QB and a DC who decides to play him in a scheme that doesn't suit his attributes.

Brandon Carr, in his short stint with the Cowboys...has made two VERY crucial plays that ended up putting the team in a position to make the playoffs.

This year, he had a pick six against NY which sealed the game.
Last year, he had a crucial OT interception against Pittsburgh which sealed the game.

I guess I treat Brandon Carr like I treat Tony Romo...I don't care what you do for the first 3 quarters of a game. If you make plays when it matters most, then that's good enough for me. Keep him at corner...

Although, my example would hold more merit if he could have made a play against Detroit...

This has crossed my mind more than once...though it's very rare you would pay a Free Safety (unless HOFer) the type of coin Carr is getting.

I'd really excursions though.

Brandon Carr was not the weakest link in our secondary last year. He shows up and has nice size. That size could translate to FS. Expensive at our #2 corner but we faired better with him than our #3 corner who we moved up in the draft for.

I don't like the notion of Carr coming down and filling a gap down after down. Church is good but we need one of the multiple prospects to pan out. Heath needs to get stronger and Wilcox needs to get smarter. I think any faith in Matt Johnson is misplaced.

my only problem with heath is he does not have ball flight adjustment..he was in position several times to make plays and either mistimed the jump or got completely turned around...but he was there.

he's a hard hitter and great tackler..

wilcox is the hitter you want...but is out of position..

we need an earl thomas type back there with church.

matt johnson looks like that type of player....but he can't stay healthy ..

why can't he stay healthy?...he was decleating players left and right in college. what the hell?

LOL Holmes had like 2 catches against Carr, he abused the LBs and Scandrick...and he never even scored. Carr also had the pick that essentially ended the game, its not like he was matched up man-to-man on Holmes the whole game...

Carr got beat at times, but at least get it right.

Dallas a lot of coaching invested in both Heath and Wilcox. They're not going to give up on them after just one year. That's why younwont see any kind of trade, nor will they draft a safety before the 5th round.

Nah. Deion in his prime would get abused playing 5 yards off with no pass rush.

I like the idea of Carr at safety but not at the expense of our depth at CB. I like the combination of our 4 corners in Claiborne, Scandrick, Carr and Moore. I also like Wilcox and with a year of experience under their belts along with Church. We don't need changes in the secondary. Someone said it earlier:

Pass Rush = Good Secondary

It's just that simple.

b carr is solid, lost confidence after megaton, is probably overpaid, would be better with a pass rush as a cb, would be good as a safety……run on,run on,run on
